JD: Content Writer
The Content Writer at Webenza is a versatile storyteller responsible for creating high-quality, engaging, and SEO-friendly written content across a diverse range of client accounts. In this role, you will transform complex briefs into clear, persuasive narratives that resonate with target audiences. You are expected to be a digital-first writer, comfortable switching between short-form social copy, informative blog posts, and technical website content. You will work closely with the Content Strategist and Design team to ensure every piece of content is not only well-written but also aligned with the client’s brand voice and marketing objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Content Creation: Write clear, compelling, and error-free copy for blogs, articles, website pages, and newsletters.
- Social Media Writing: Craft engaging captions and headlines for various platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) that drive interaction.
- SEO Optimisation: Incorporate primary and secondary keywords naturally into web content to improve organic search rankings.
- Research: Conduct thorough research on industry-specific topics to ensure all content is factually accurate and adds value to the reader.
- Tone Adaptation: Seamlessly switch between different brand voices, from professional B2B tones to conversational B2C styles.
- Collaboration: Work with the Design team to ensure that the copy complements the visual elements of every project.
- Editing & Proofreading: Self-edit all work rigorously for grammar, punctuation, and British English spelling before submission.
- Content Repurposing: Take long-form assets (like whitepapers or blogs) and break them down into bite-sized social media snippets.
- Trend Awareness: Stay updated on digital marketing trends and pop culture to suggest relevant "moment marketing" content ideas.
- Deadline Management: Deliver high-quality drafts within agreed-upon timelines across multiple concurrent projects.
Key DeliverablesMonthly
- 8–10 SEO-optimised blog posts or articles (800–1,200 words each) across assigned accounts.
- Full monthly social media calendars (captions and creative copy) for 2–3 clients.
- 2–4 email marketing campaigns or newsletters.
- Meta descriptions and alt-text for new website uploads.
Quarterly
- At least one long-form "Hero" asset (e.g., a case study or a detailed guide).
- Participation in content brainstorms for upcoming seasonal campaigns.
- Audit and refresh of existing high-performing blog posts for SEO relevance.
Ad-hoc
- Website "About Us" or service page rewrites for new client onboarding.
- Script outlines for short-form reels or TikTok-style videos.
- Supporting the pitch team with creative taglines or introductory copy.
Required Skills & Experience- Experience: 2–4 years of professional writing experience, preferably in a digital agency or as a content specialist.
- Writing Style: Exceptional command of British English with a portfolio showcasing versatility and narrative flow.
- SEO Knowledge: Understanding of keyword density, meta tags, and how to write for "Readability" scores.
- Tools: Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Office, and basic familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS.
- Platform Savvy: Strong understanding of the different nuances between LinkedIn (professional), Instagram (visual/short), and Facebook (community).
