About Pepper
Pepper is building an AI-powered content and SEO growth platform, serving 2,500+ global brands with 150,000+ content creators. Our platform Atlas is an agentic SEO + content engine—where AI, automation, and editorial intelligence come together to drive outcomes at scale.
We don't just produce content. We engineer it.
Location - Mumbai Onsite
Timezone - 3 PM - 12 AM IST (Out of Office)
The Role
Editorial Lead. Content Engineer. Strategic Partner.
You'll own editorial quality for Pepper's customers—but through the lens of outcomes and systems. You'll also be a Content Engineer—someone who thinks about content as a system of inputs, prompts, workflows, and automation, not just words on a page.
You'll work directly with Atlas, shaping how AI-powered content workflows deliver quality at scale. And you'll be a strategic partner to customers—connecting content to business outcomes and growing relationships through impact.
This is an IC role. Editorial judgment. Systems thinking. Analytical rigor. Customer ownership.
What You'll Do
Editorial & Content Engineering (60%)
- Own editorial quality with an outcomes lens. Every piece of content has a job. You ensure it gets done.
- Think like a Content Engineer. Design prompts, templates, workflows, and guardrails that make AI-generated content sharp, consistent, and on-brand.
- Work with Atlas. Shape how our agentic platform delivers content—refining AI outputs, building content systems, and improving quality loops.
- Build scalable content systems. Guidelines, frameworks, prompt libraries, and QA processes that maintain quality at volume.
- Use data to drive editorial decisions. What's ranking? What's converting? You let performance inform the system.
- Balance quality with velocity. You know when to optimize for craft and when to ship.
Strategic Expansion & Digital Consulting (40%)
- Be a strategic partner to customers. Understand their business, funnel, and goals—build content strategies that move metrics.
- Think in data. Comfortable in GA4, Search Console, content analytics. You bring insights, not opinions.
- Connect content to SEO and pipeline. You understand how content engineering choices impact rankings, traffic, and revenue.
- Expand accounts through value. Measurable outcomes = more work. You grow relationships organically.
- Lead customer conversations. QBRs, strategy sessions, content reviews—with data, clarity, and recommendations.
Who This Is For
- You've spent 6–12 years in content, editorial, or digital roles—and you've always cared about what happens after publish
- You're excited about content engineering—building systems, prompts, and workflows that scale quality
- You're analytically rigorous—you can debate a headline and interpret a traffic graph
- You think in outcomes—rankings, conversions, pipeline. Not just "good content."
- You're curious about AI and automation—you want to shape how content gets made, not just edit what comes out
- You're a clear, confident communicator—customers trust you because you bring data and clarity
- You want to stay hands-on—no team to manage, just systems to build and outcomes to own
- Comfortable working 3 PM – 12 AM IST for global customers
Who This Is NOT For
- Someone who thinks AI-generated content is beneath them
- Someone who edits for "craft" but can't think in systems or scale
- Someone uncomfortable with prompts, workflows, and automation
- Someone who avoids data and dashboards
- Someone who needs a team to feel senior
What You Bring
- 6–12 years in editorial, content strategy, or digital content roles
- Strong editorial instincts—you know quality and can systematize it
- Content engineering mindset—you've thought about (or worked on) AI-assisted content, prompt design, or workflow automation
- Analytical chops—comfortable with GA4, Search Console, SEO tools, content performance data
- Understanding of SEO and digital ecosystem—how content systems impact rankings and conversions
- Experience with Mid-Market or Enterprise customers
- Ability to tie content to business outcomes
- Proven track record of growing accounts through strategic value
- Curiosity about AI and content automation—bonus if you've built or worked with AI content workflows
Why This Role Is Different
You're not joining as an editor who polishes copy. You're joining as a Content Engineer and Strategic Partner - someone who builds the systems that make great content scale.
You'll shape how Atlas delivers for customers. You'll own quality, data, and relationships.
Editorial rigor meets content engineering meets strategic impact. If that intersection excites you—let's talk.
To Apply
No fluff. Tell us:
- One content system or workflow you built that improved quality or efficiency at scale
- How do you think about AI-assisted content? What works, what doesn't, what's missing?
- One account you grew through strategic or editorial value—what drove it?
We need someone who can engineer content systems, own editorial quality, and grow customer relationships through measurable impact. If that's you—this is your seat.
