Job details:
I. About Cheenta
Cheenta Academy is an Olympiad and research-oriented mathematics and science institution, serving approximately 1,000 students globally. The institution runs three converging tracks: Olympiad training (age 6+), research and publication (age 14+), and leadership programs connecting students with real-world problems (age 14+). Cheenta operates an academic management platform, Panini8, built in-house.
This role sits at the intersection of editorial work and program management. It is not a marketing role in the conventional sense; Cheenta's voice is editorial and advisory, not promotional.
II. Role Summary
The Editor and Program Manager has two pillars of responsibility. As Editor, the role owns the production, quality, and consistent voice of Cheenta's content across the website, Panini8 platform, and external channels. As Program Manager, the role manages the operational running of Cheenta's leadership programs, working under the direction of the research lead.
III. Responsibilities
A. Program Management — Leadership Programs
i. Manage scheduling, logistics, and participant communication for Hundred Miles, Saajghor, and successor leadership programs.
ii. Prepare program content under the direction of the research lead, including class plans, participant materials, and follow-up resources.
iii. Support facilitators during program sessions; in some cases, co-facilitate sessions directly.
iv. Maintain program records — attendance, participant progress, post-program feedback — and report on program outcomes.
B. Editorial — Website and Platform
i. Edit and publish content on the Cheenta website and Panini8 platform, maintaining a consistent editorial voice.
ii. Upload Olympiad papers and reference material with correct formatting and metadata.
iii. Coordinate with the development team for content-related implementation work, including responsive layouts, event pages, and new content modules.
iv. Maintain an editorial calendar and content inventory.
C. Editorial — Communications and Outbound Content
i. Produce, edit, and publish content on a fixed weekly cadence:
ii. Edit and produce brochures, programme overviews, and supporting collateral.
iii. Hold the editorial line on Cheenta's tone across all external communications — direct, institutional, advisory; not promotional.
IV. Required Qualifications
i. Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Preference for candidates with backgrounds in literature, journalism, education, social sciences, or mathematics.
ii. 2–4 years of experience in editorial work, content management, programs, or a closely related function.
iii. Demonstrated writing and editing fluency in English. Sample writing will be requested.
iv. Comfort with basic CMS workflows (WordPress or similar) and familiarity with social media publishing tools.
v. Working comfort with AI-assisted editorial workflows.
V. Preferred Qualifications
i. Prior experience running or supporting educational programs, classroom sessions, or workshops.
ii. Exposure to mathematics, science, or research-oriented academic content.
iii. Basic familiarity with Bengali in addition to English, for participant communication in leadership programs.
iv. Experience working with developers on web content implementation.
VI. Working Conditions
i. Full-time, office-based at 22 Lake Place, Kolkata 700029.
ii. Standard day shift; occasional evening or weekend work during leadership program sessions, compensated through time-off.
iii. Six-month probation with a structured review at month three and month six.
iv. Equipment, software access, and reference material provided by the organisation.
VII. Scope and Limits of the Role
i. Editorial authority is exercised within the Cheenta voice and brand framework set by the Director. The Editor and Program Manager holds the editorial line on day-to-day work; questions of brand direction, tone shifts, or new editorial properties are decided by the Director.
iii. Program direction for Hundred Miles, Saajghor, and successor programs remains with the research lead. The Program Manager executes, supports, and manages operations; program direction and curriculum design are not within the scope of this role.
iv. This is not a senior marketing position. The role does not own marketing budgets, paid acquisition, or growth strategy.
VIII. How to Apply
Send the following to the email address provided in the listing:
i. A current CV.
ii. A writing sample of approximately 500 words on any topic. Cheenta-tone preferred but not required.
iii. A short note (200 words or fewer) on why this role is of interest.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written editorial task, followed by an interview with the Director.
Applications without a writing sample will not be reviewed.
