Role Description The Consultant Cardiologist will provide specialized cardiac care, including outpatient consultations, inpatient management, and participation in cardiac intensive care and emergency services. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions, interpreting diagnostic investigations (such as ECG, echocardiography, stress tests, and cardiac imaging), and planning appropriate medical or interventional management. The role involves collaborating with cardiac surgeons, critical care teams, and other specialists to deliver multidisciplinary care, as well as contributing to clinical protocols, quality improvement, and patient education. The Consultant Cardiologist will also participate in on-call duties, case discussions, and departmental meetings, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and hospital policies. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Alpha Hospital in Ahmedabad.
Qualifications
- Advanced cardiology training: MD/DNB in Internal Medicine with DM/DNB in Cardiology or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Clinical expertise: Proven experience in managing a wide range of cardiac conditions, including ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, and cardiomyopathies.
- Diagnostic and procedural skills: Proficiency in ECG interpretation, echocardiography, stress testing, cardiac imaging correlation, and participation in catheterization lab procedures as appropriate.
- Emergency and critical care competence: Ability to manage cardiac emergencies, acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, and patients in ICU/CCU settings.
- Collaborative and communication skills: Strong interdisciplinary teamwork, clear communication with patients, families, and colleagues, and effective documentation practices.
- Quality and safety orientation: Commitment to evidence-based medicine, clinical governance, infection control, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Professional attributes: Strong ethical standards, empathy, patient-centric approach, and ability to work in a fast-paced tertiary care environment.
- Additional desirable qualifications: Experience in a multi-specialty hospital, involvement in academic activities or research, familiarity with electronic medical records, and proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
