About Us:
Twimbit is a research and advisory firm driven by a singular mission: to empower businesses making a difference. We specialize in providing invaluable industry intelligence to executives and teams, acting as a catalyst for innovation and growth. Twimbit’s proprietary research platform seeks to revolutionize the way enterprises consume insights, making it effortlessly enjoyable and accessible to all.
Twimbit is a research and advisory firm headquartered in Singapore. Twimbit Japan launched in 2025 and works with leading Japanese companies. Our Japanese clients come to us to understand markets outside Japan, so the research is done from India and the client relationships are led from Tokyo.
About the Role:
Twimbit is hiring a consumer research analyst in India who will work only on Japan. You will be the research engine behind our Japan business, producing the consumer insight that Japanese companies need to grow overseas.
Your first theme is Culture x Tourism. Inbound tourism is driving overseas demand for Japanese brands such as Muji, Uniqlo, Sushiro and CoCo Ichibanya, and for high-quality Japanese goods from kitchen knives to adhesive bandages. Very little research exists on this demand. You will build the evidence: who is buying, why, in which markets, and what Japanese companies should do about it. After that, you will apply the same approach to other consumer themes across retail, consumer goods and food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own each report from start to finish. Given an agreed scope, you design the research, run the analysis and write the full report yourself. The India research team reviews quality before it is delivered.
- Design and run consumer research on overseas demand for Japanese brands and products, using surveys, interviews, social listening and desk research.
- Build Twimbit’s view of how consumers outside Japan discover, choose and buy Japanese brands and products, by market and by category.
- Size markets and segment consumers for clients in retail, consumer goods, food and tourism.
- Produce Japan-ready content on a regular cadence agreed with the Country Manager: reports, webinar material and thought-leadership pieces.
- Provide research inputs for Japan proposals and client projects, and present findings to the Japan team and, where needed, to clients.
- Manage fieldwork partners and panel vendors when primary research is outsourced, and own the quality of the data.
- Write in clear, structured English that the Japan team can adapt into Japanese for clients.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years in consumer or market research, at a research agency, a consulting firm or an in-house consumer insights team.
- Hands-on quantitative skills: questionnaire design, sampling, and analysis in Excel plus one of SPSS, R or Python.
- Qualitative skills: discussion guides, in-depth interviews and synthesis of findings.
- Experience researching consumers in more than one country, ideally across Asia.
- Strong written English and slide writing. You turn data into a clear point of view, not a data dump.
- End-to-end ownership. Given a scope, you can write a complete report on your own, from research design to the final write-up, for a manager in another country.
- Real interest in Japan: its brands, culture and tourism.
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting major national brands, such as Nestlé or Coca-Cola, with consumer research.
- Experience working with Japanese clients or Japanese companies.
- Sector background in retail, consumer goods, food service, or travel and tourism.
- Experience with social listening tools or travel and tourism datasets.
- Experience producing webinars or published thought leadership.
- Japanese language ability. This is not required, as the Japan team handles all Japanese-language work.
Location: Chandigarh India
Reports to: Country Manager, Japan
Focus: 100% Japan clients. The role is not shared with other regions or projects.
