Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Consultant - Pediatric Intensivist based at Ovum Hospitals in Bengaluru South. The Consultant will provide specialized intensive care to critically ill infants and children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), including assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and ongoing management. Daily responsibilities include performing detailed clinical evaluations, ordering and interpreting investigations, initiating and adjusting treatment plans, and overseeing ventilatory and hemodynamic support. The role involves close collaboration with pediatricians, subspecialists, nurses, and allied health professionals, as well as regular communication with families regarding care plans, prognosis, and follow-up. Additional responsibilities include participation in clinical rounds, emergency response for pediatric codes, adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols, documentation, quality improvement initiatives, and training of junior doctors, nurses, and trainees.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Medicine with advanced pediatric training, including experience in pediatric intensive care or critical care settings.
- Competence in Emergency Medicine and acute care, including resuscitation, stabilization, and management of life-threatening pediatric conditions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively while Working with Physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams in a busy hospital environment.
- Exposure to Cardiology as it relates to pediatric critical care, including recognition and management of common pediatric cardiac emergencies.
- Experience in Training and mentoring residents, junior clinicians, and nursing staff in pediatric and critical care practices.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics (e.g., MD/DNB Pediatrics) with fellowship or DrNB/DM ( Fresher's are also will be considered) in Pediatric Intensive care .
- Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice as a consultant in India, with up-to-date certifications in PALS/ACLS or equivalent.
- Strong clinical judgment, clear communication skills, and a compassionate, family-centered approach to care.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, and to participate in on-call duties as required.
