Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Consultant Emergency Medicine role based at Manipal Hospitals in Mysore. The Consultant will provide timely, evidence-based emergency care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries, including triage, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsibilities include overseeing resuscitation and critical care interventions, coordinating with specialists such as cardiology and intensive care, and ensuring appropriate admissions, referrals, and discharges. The role involves supervising and mentoring junior doctors, nurses, and other emergency department staff, and participating in clinical audits, quality improvement, and protocol development. The Consultant will also engage in patient and family communication, documentation, and adherence to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical foundation in Medicine and Emergency Medicine, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and life-threatening conditions.
- Expertise in Emergency Medicine and Cardiology-related emergencies, including chest pain, acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest management.
- Proven experience working with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless handovers.
- Experience in Training, including supervising residents, junior doctors, nurses, and supporting ongoing clinical education in the emergency department.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a related specialty (e.g., MD, DNB, MEM, or equivalent).
- Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice as a consultant in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and in high-acuity situations.
