Role Summary
We are looking for a construction professional with experience in planning, billing, contracts administration, project controls, cost control, or PMO functions to support construction audit and program consulting engagements.
The role involves reviewing construction manager billings, payment applications, change orders, and supporting documentation to assess compliance with contractual requirements. The individual will participate in audit engagements from initial data collection through final reporting while working closely with senior consultants and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse payment applications, running bills, change orders, and cost documentation for compliance with contract terms.
- Validate contractor billing, progress payments, quantities, rates, and supporting documentation against contract requirements and project records.
- Reconcile labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, General Conditions, Job Cost Reports, budgets, and payment certificates to identify billing variances and commercial risks.
- Perform analytical reviews to identify overbillings, duplicate charges, non-compliant costs, cost misclassifications, and other financial or contractual risks.
- Support interim and closeout audit engagements from data collection through final reporting.
- Prepare organized audit workpapers and draft formal audit observations and findings in a clear and professional format.
- Build and maintain Excel-based workpapers and PowerPoint audit report decks.
- Apply knowledge of EPC, Item Rate, Lump Sum, and O&M/Facility Management contracts while performing cost verification and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with team members, reviewers, project managers, and stakeholders to finalize audit findings and project deliverables.
- Utilize AI productivity tools to improve documentation quality, analysis efficiency, and reporting accuracy while maintaining confidentiality.
- What counts most is a solid grasp of how RA (Running Account) bills work, the billing cycle, the backup that should accompany each bill, and how it all ties back to the contract.
Required Qualifications
Education
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management
- M.Tech/M.E. in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred.
Experience
- 2–6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Planning, Billing, Contracts Administration, Project Controls, Cost Control, PMO, construction billing, or construction audit functions is preferred.
Preferred Industry Exposure
- Infrastructure projects including Rail, Metro, Roads, Airports, Water, Utilities, Energy, and Heavy Civil projects preferred.
- Experience in Buildings, Industrial, and Institutional projects is also valued.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Running Account (RA) Bills and billing cycles
- Payment applications and supporting documentation
- Construction contracts and contractual payment terms
- Change orders and cost verification processes
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to prepare clear, structured reports and audit observations.
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent engagements.
