Role Overview
The Claims Assessment role involves evaluating and processing life insurance claims with accuracy and compliance. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to ensure timely and fair adjudication of claims.
Key Responsibilities - Process and assess life insurance claims in line with company policies and service standards.
- Verify supporting documentation, including:
- Death Certificate
- Employment Records
- Medical Records
- Post-Mortem Report (PMR)
- First Information Report (FIR)
- Other regulatory/legal documents
- Examine applications to confirm alignment with policy terms and coverage.
- Communicate with claimants and intermediaries to clarify details and ensure completeness.
- Determine claim eligibility and validate settlement amounts based on policy guidelines.
- Collaborate with underwriting, legal, sales, and operations teams for accurate adjudication of complex claims.
- Maintain documentation integrity, case notes, and audit trails for each claim processed.
- Monitor claims for anomalies and support fraud detection and pre-claim investigations.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, trends, and best practices related to life insurance.
- Maintain MIS and reporting trackers for periodic review and improvement planning.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in life insurance claim assessment, preferably in term plans.
- Strong understanding of life insurance concepts, claim adjudication procedures, and regulatory norms.
- Proficiency in verifying legal and medical documents with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engagement with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret policy documents, and make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with claims management systems and workflow tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority tasks.
