Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), based in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, is a Section 8 Company established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to spearhead the Natural Farming Programme. Launched in 2015-16, this initiative aims to enhance farmers’ and consumers’ welfare while addressing climate change challenges and promoting sustainable agriculture. The programme supports over 800,000 farmers across all 26 districts of the state, focusing on climate-resilient, chemical-free, and ecological farming practices. RySS operates under key national and state strategies, with financial backing of Rs. 750 crore over five years, and has partnered with Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives for its Technical Support Unit. The initiative aligns with global Agroecology principles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting a holistic alternative to chemical-intensive agriculture.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Consultant role based in Hyderabad. The Consultant will support the implementation and refinement of the Natural Farming Programme by conducting research, developing policy frameworks, and collaborating with stakeholders. Responsibilities include data analysis, progress tracking, reporting on project outcomes, developing training materials, and facilitating knowledge dissemination. The role will also encompass offering strategic guidance to enhance programme impact and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and research skills, including data collection, interpretation, and reporting
  • Proficiency in policy development and strategic planning related to agricultural or ecological programs
  • Experience in stakeholder collaboration, including engagement with government bodies, NGOs, and farming communities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare reports and presentations
  • Familiarity with sustainable, ecological, or climate-resilient agricultural practices
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines under minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in local languages is highly desirable
  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a related field
