Job Summary

As a Manager in the Trading & Compliance Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of strong developers who design, develop, and maintain software solutions for the trading and compliance functions of the company.

You will oversee the quality, security, and performance of the software products, as well as ensure alignment with the business requirements and the IT strategy.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Information Systems – Trading & Compliance, and work closely with other managers, team leads, project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders across the organization. An interest in learning the details of a broad range of asset classes is essential to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Information Systems team responsible for the trading & compliance function in the company, including planning, assigning, and reviewing tasks, mentoring, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders and back-office users to solve business problems and improve efficiencies. Invest time and effort to learn about our order management system and how it integrates with other systems, end users and processes within CC&L
  • Define and implement the software development methodology, standards, and best practices for the team, ensuring adherence to the company's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with business users, product owners, and other IS teams to understand the business needs, define the scope, and deliver software solutions that meet or exceed the expectations.
  • Ensure software products are tested, documented, deployed, and maintained in a timely and efficient manner, following the change management and release management processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot trading and compliance systems issues, incidents, and requests, providing root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Identify and manage the risks, issues, and dependencies related to the software development and delivery, escalating when necessary and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks that can improve the software quality, security, and performance, as well as enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, resolving complex technical challenges and ensuring code quality and performance optimization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team and across the IT organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing software development teams, including mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing software solutions for the trading and compliance functions, such as order management, trade execution, risk management, regulatory reporting, etc.
  • Expert in programming languages, frameworks, and technologies using C#, .NET, Angular/Typescript, PowerShell, SQL, Web Services, WEB APIs, etc. Experience of building on Microsoft Azure is desirable.
  • Experience in agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, etc., and using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, etc.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, and influence and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and customer-focused, with a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions that add value to the business.
  • Previous experience working with Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS) or an equivalent order management system in the investment management industry is advantageous.

The salary range for this position is $140,000-$160,000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition, there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation of this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
