5+ years of experience in Kafka / Confluent Kafka administration Strong hands-on experience with: Confluent Platform (Kafka Broker, Schema Registry, Connect, Control Center) Kafka topic design, partitioning, replication, and retention strategies Experience with Kafka Connect and connector management Solid understanding of distributed systems and messaging concepts Experience with Linux system administration Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.) Experience with Confluent Cloud Kafka certification (e.g., Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka) Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes (Strimzi or Confluent Operator) Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) Scripting skills (Shell, Python) Knowledge of data streaming patterns and real-time analytics
Administer, configure, and maintain Confluent Kafka clusters (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid) Install, upgrade, and patch Kafka, Zookeeper / KRaft, and Confluent Platform components Manage and monitor Kafka brokers, topics, partitions, replicas, and consumer groups Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery for Kafka environments Monitor cluster health, performance, and lag using Confluent Control Center, JMX, Prometheus, Grafana Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cluster optimization Manage security configurations including: SSL/TLS encryption SASL authentication ACLs and RBAC Troubleshoot Kafka issues related to latency, throughput, connectivity, and data loss Support schema management using Confluent Schema Registry Collaborate with application, DevOps, and data engineering teams to support streaming use cases Automate Kafka deployment and maintenance using scripts or infrastructure-as-code tools Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices
