Academic Mentor Job Description
Job Overview
As an Academic Mentor at Learnwise, you will play a transformative role in guiding learners—primarily those who have paused their educational journey and are now returning to complete their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees (especially with IGNOU). Acting as both a companion and coach, you will support learners in overcoming academic and personal challenges, track their progress, and ensure they achieve their educational and career aspirations. This is more than a job—it’s a mission to help individuals regain momentum and succeed despite various life responsibilities.
Employment Details
- Employment Type: Full-Time (Remote / Work from Home)
- Working Hours:
- General Availability: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (IST)
- Regular Mentorship Tasks: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Evening Sessions/Events: Post 6:00 PM as required
- Probation Period: 2 months
- Monthly Salary:
- INR 10,000 during probation
- INR 15,000 post-probation, plus performance-based bonuses and admission incentives
- Required Equipment & Connectivity:
- A functional laptop with a working webcam
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or above in a relevant subject area
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to empathize with adult learners and exercise patience
- Good organizational skills to manage and follow up with large cohorts of learners
- Proficiency in using online learning tools, productivity software, and virtual communication platforms
- Willingness to adapt to evolving platform features and new initiatives

Compensation and Benefits
- Probationary Period (2 Months): INR 10,000 per month
- Post-Probation: INR 15,000 per month, plus:

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome a learner who gets assigned
- Conduct onboarding meetings with learners (individually)
- Handle doubts (daily)
- Analyze “My Learnwise Day” (daily updates from learners) and plan follow-ups
- Conduct weekly calls (daily 15 calls, covering all 100 learners in a week)
- Track learner progress
- Take live classes for the batches
- Conduct orientation sessions
- Conduct special virtual events
- Implement additional features
- Help learners regarding their University (IGNOU) related matters, such as registrations and other communications
- Help learners prepare and submit assignments
- Ensure learners register for examinations
- Help learners prepare for exams
- Conduct exam-focused initiatives
- Help learners with internships, projects, fieldwork, or practicals as part of their academics
- Collect learners’ feedback (“Humans of Learnwise”)
- Help learners get certificates, do convocation registration, and attend ceremonies
- Help learners in their career development matters
- Handle 2nd/3rd/4th year Learnwise enrollments
- Coordinate with the Pending Payment team to collect learners’ due payments
- Coordinate with the Academics team to ensure content delivery
- Coordinate with the Tech team to ensure smooth app usage
- Coordinate with Coordinators to ensure all University (IGNOU) matters are done in a timely manner
- Involve in learner happiness initiatives
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly overall progress reviews and action plans; provide feedback
- Report learner matters to Department Heads, the Mentorship Team Lead, and the Chief Experience Officer (CXO)
- Help Academic Counselors with mentorship and student success matters and involve in their training
- Bring referrals through the assigned learners
Causes for Removal from the Position
- Not meeting your acknowledgments/confirmations and actual involvement/performance
- Issues related to dedication, commitment, and availability for the role
- Substantial negative feedback from learners
- Learners’ disproportionate discontinuation
- Failure in managing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
- Indifferent attitude toward Learnwise initiatives
- Longer leaves without prior approval
- Breaking confidentiality through any means
- Not able to meet performance expectations
- Lack of understanding even after training on mentorship operation matters
