Job description for CAD engineer:
Experience: Mid-Level CAD Engineer: 3–6 years
Key Responsibilities
• Create PCB layouts from schematics using industry-standard CAD tools
• Develop multilayer PCB designs following electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing constraints
• Perform component placement, routing, and design rule checks (DRC)
• Ensure compliance with DFM, DFA, and DFT guidelines
• Generate manufacturing deliverables including:
o Gerber / ODB++ files
o Drill files
o Assembly drawings
o Pick-and-place data
• Coordinate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve issues
• Support prototype builds
• Implement engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain revision control
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback
• Maintain PCB libraries (symbols, footprints, 3D models)
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in PCB CAD tools such as:
o Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Xpedition, or Zuken
• Experience with multilayer PCB layout with length matched signal for high speed (DDR, SPI,CSI,MIPI, JESD)
• Understanding of basic electronics, schematics, and component packages
• Knowledge of controlled impedance, grounding, and power distribution
• Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with high-speed digital, analog, or mixed-signal designs
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
• Experience with HDI, rigid-flex, or flex PCB designs
• Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351)
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

• May require occasional travel to Customer sites
