About the Department
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of clerical duties related to attendance accounting and record-keeping in a school office; contact parents and guardians to report and verify excused and unexcused absences; operate a computer terminal as needed to enter and update attendance data.
Position Duties
Provide accurate reporting for daily attendance of students; process and verify student absence information from parents and teachers.
Issue various excuses to students for absence from class; issue admission slips for students returning to assure accurate absentee reporting.
Communicate with students and parents regarding attendance information to staff, parents and authorities as requested; receive phone calls from concerned parents; explain District policies and State regulations regarding school attendance and enrollment as appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance; establish guidelines; prepare and maintain a variety of records and files regarding students attendance, tardiness, truancy, suspension and discipline as assigned.
Operate a variety of office machines including a FAX, computer terminal, scanner, typewriter and copy/duplicating machines.
Explain District policies and State regulations regarding school attendance enrollment as appropriate.
Assist students, staff and visitors at counter; take and relay messages to and from parents and students.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year general clerical experience involving record-keeping.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions in this class may be required to utilize oral and written communications abilities in a second designated language.
Assignments are 4 to 8 hours, determined by the needs of the District.
Valid California Class C driver's license. Incumbents are required to operate personal vehicles and provide proof of insurance.
