Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Compliance Executive to manage statutory and regulatory compliance across payroll, taxation, and labour law filings. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate filing of PF, ESIC, PT, TDS, and other statutory returns, while staying updated on changes in applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Compliance
- Manage end-to-end EPF (Provident Fund) compliance — monthly ECR generation, challan payment, UAN activation, KYC updates, transfer/withdrawal claims, and annual returns
- Handle ESIC compliance — employee registration, monthly contribution filing, challan payment, and coordination for ESI-related employee claims
- Manage Professional Tax (PT) filing — monthly/periodic PT returns and payments as per state-specific slabs and due dates (Maharashtra PT regulations)
- Ensure timely TDS deduction, deposit, and quarterly return filing (Form 24Q/26Q); coordinate with the accounts team for Form 16/16A issuance
- Track and file other applicable statutory returns — Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), Shops & Establishment renewals, Minimum Wages compliance, Bonus Act, Gratuity, and POSH compliance as applicable
Payroll & Documentation
- Coordinate with HR/payroll team to ensure statutory deductions are accurately reflected in payroll before processing
- Maintain compliance registers, employee statutory records, and audit-ready documentation
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly/annual compliance reports and dashboards to management
Audits & Inspections
- Support internal and external audits (statutory, PF, ESIC inspections) with required documentation
- Liaise with government departments, consultants, and legal advisors on notices, inspections, or clarifications
- Ensure closure of compliance notices/discrepancies within stipulated timelines
Regulatory Tracking
- Monitor changes in labour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements; update internal policies/processes accordingly
- Advise management on compliance risks and recommend corrective actions
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Law, HR, or related field (B.Com/BBA/LLB preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in statutory compliance, payroll compliance, or a similar role
- Working knowledge of EPF, ESIC, PT, TDS, and other labour law compliances
- Familiarity with government portals — EPFO, ESIC, GST/TDS (TRACES), state PT websites
- Proficiency in MS Excel; exposure to payroll/HRMS software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines, and good communication skills for liaising with authorities and consultants
Good to Have
- Experience working with MSMEs or startups handling multi-location compliance
- Knowledge of GST basics and coordination with CA/compliance consultants
- Prior exposure to HRMS/payroll platforms
