About The Role
The compiler team at Qualcomm Innovation Center is seeking talented compiler engineers to optimize LLVM and gcc for Qualcomm’s processors. This role involves working at the forefront of compiler technology, contributing to the development of high-performance, efficient software solutions tailored for next-generation hardware architectures. As a key member of the team, you will engage in research, design, and implementation of compiler optimizations aimed at improving runtime efficiency and memory management of software applications. Your work will directly influence the performance and reliability of Qualcomm’s processors across various platforms.
You will analyze software requirements, collaborate with architecture and hardware engineers, and devise innovative compiler solutions aligned with Qualcomm’s strategic objectives. Additionally, you will identify and resolve system-level integration issues, working closely with software development, integration, and testing teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of compiler enhancements. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in processor technology and software optimization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in computer science or related fields, with relevant experience in compiler development or software engineering. Candidates should have a demonstrated passion for compiler technologies and a solid understanding of programming languages such as C and C++. Experience with LLVM or gcc frameworks, as well as knowledge of ARM/AArch64 and RISC-V instruction set architectures, is highly preferred. The role requires a minimum of 1+ years of academic or industrial experience in compiler development or related domains.
Educational qualifications include a B.Tech, M.Tech, or PhD in Computer Science Engineering or a related discipline. Candidates with a minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering, or equivalent qualifications with 3+ years (Master’s) or 2+ years (PhD), are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Python is also advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and implement various compiler optimizations to enhance software performance, including runtime and memory efficiency improvements.
- Analyze software requirements and collaborate with hardware and architecture teams to develop tailored compiler solutions for Qualcomm’s next-generation processors.
- Identify and troubleshoot system-level integration issues, ensuring smooth interfacing between compiler components and hardware/software systems.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of compiler frameworks, including LLVM and gcc, ensuring they meet performance and compatibility standards.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation processes to uphold high-quality standards in compiler development.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in compiler technology and processor architectures, integrating new techniques and best practices into ongoing projects.
