Romance Book Club by a Celeb Founder:
Soft Launch is looking for someone to lead and build a new romance-focused book club founded by one of India’s leading celebrity.
About Soft Launch
Soft Launch is a celebrity-led media and IP company focused on developing original stories, communities, formats and entertainment properties in the world of romance.
The company works across ling format and short format story telling, branded content, screen adaptations, digital content, live experiences with the ambition of building culturally relevant ideas into long-term media and consumer IP.
The romance book club will be one of Soft Launch’s flagship community-led properties.
About the role
This will be more than a monthly book recommendation platform.
The ambition is to build a highly engaged community around romance stories, authors and readers, while creating original conversations, events, content formats and partnerships that can develop into a distinctive and scalable cultural IP.
The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with romance fiction, understands online communities and can combine editorial taste, community building and strong execution.
What you will lead
- Define the overall vision, programming strategy and editorial calendar for the book club.
- Curate monthly selections across contemporary romance, romantic comedy, young adult, fantasy romance, regional literature and emerging subgenres.
- Research books, authors, publishers and broader trends shaping romance fiction.
- Develop engaging formats around each selection, including discussions, author conversations, reader prompts, reviews, newsletters, social content and video formats.
- Manage and grow the community across social media, digital platforms and offline experiences.
- Plan virtual and in-person events, reading sessions, author interactions and community meet-ups.
- Build relationships with authors, publishers, literary agents, bookstores, literary festivals and reading communities.
- Work closely with the founder and the Soft Launch team to develop original content and book-led IP.
- Identify thoughtful brand, publishing and commercial partnerships without compromising the credibility of the community.
- Track engagement, membership growth, reader feedback and overall programme performance.
Who we are looking for
- A genuine and demonstrable love for books, particularly romance fiction.
- Strong knowledge of authors, new releases, publishers and emerging conversations within the category.
- Experience in publishing, editorial programming, community building, content, books media, events or a related field.
- Excellent writing, communication and editorial judgment.
- The ability to translate literary conversations into accessible and engaging digital content.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple workstreams.
- A strong understanding of social media, online audiences and community culture.
- A balance of creative instinct, commercial awareness and attention to detail.

- A publishing house, literary platform or bookstore.
- A book-focused social page, newsletter, podcast or community.
- A creator-led company, entertainment property or cultural IP.
- Literary festivals, author programming or cultural events.
- Social media and content strategy for books, entertainment or lifestyle brands.
Location
Mumbai preferred. Hybrid or remote working may be considered depending on the candidate’s experience and ability to manage programming, partnerships and events.
