Community Manager: Job description
Role is with an early stage food-tech startup based out of bangalore, we are a platform for indie and homegrown food brands in india. You will be working with the founders directly. Founders are seasoned operators and leaders from FMCG, Marketplaces and F&B.
About the role
We're building a community around all things food, online and offline, and we need someone to bring it to life.
The community is made of people who are super passionate about food: foodies, food content creators, micro influencers, food influencers, critics and foragers. As Community Manager, you find these people, get them talking to each other, and get them in the same room. You'll also be the face of the community, so people should be glad to see you at the door.
What you'll do
- Find and bring in food people: creators, foodies, critics, foragers and anyone with a good eye for a good plate.
- Run the online community: talk to members every day on Instagram and wherever else they hang out, start conversations, and share what they find.
- Plan and host offline meetups: tastings, food walks, potlucks, forage trips, supper clubs. Run them from start to finish, and be the one who keeps the room going.
- Keep a running list of unheard gems: the stall, the home cook, the recipe nobody has written about yet.
- Work with creators and micro influencers on collaborations and content.
- Look after members so they keep coming back, and remember who is who.
- Tell us what the community likes, wants and is talking about.
Who you are
You love, breathe and live all things food. You're a foodie, and it shows in how you talk about it.
- You have an unofficial list of saved recipes, and another of unheard gems that you can't wait to tell people about.
- You're comfortable on Instagram: you know how it works, what people like to see and how to talk to them there.
- You're at home at offline meetups. You can host and lead one, and you're usually the life of it.
- You like people, you remember names, and you make newcomers feel welcome.
- You're curious about every kind of food, from a street stall to a home kitchen to a fancy restaurant.
You can start with us as an intern, a manager or a founding team member. Age and professional experience are no bar. Passion and past work are what count: have you started a club in college or at work, or been on the leadership team of a cultural club? Tell us what role you played. If you've helped bring up new-age communities like Putting Scenes or District, we'd love to talk.
