Hours: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (8 hours/day)
5 days/week; 52 weeks per year
Tuesday - Saturday
Salary : $31.92/hour

Position Summary:
Perform maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. Perform routine and extensive
maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability

assignment.
● Perform general troubleshooting and maintenance in HVAC, electrical, carpentry and plumbing
in a timely manner. Obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts as needed.
● Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repair in all district facilities including, but not
limited to HVAC, electrical, electronics and plumbing systems.
● Identify items in need of repair. Take initiative to address the repair or generate work order.
● Maintain required forms and paperwork (repair orders, preventative maintenance inspection
forms, and related items).
● Ensure work area safety and cleanliness. Maintain hand and power tools so that they are safe,
clean, orderly and in working condition.
● Respond to emergency maintenance requests.
● Track warranty repairs to insure the District is not charged for items covered under
manufacturer's warranty.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Work Experience:
● High school diploma or equivalent.

● Experience in commercial or school facility maintenance preferred.
● More than one year and up to and including three years of experience in one or combination of
HVAC, Electrical, Electronics or Plumbing.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications:
● Criminal background check required for hire.
● Valid Illinois driver’s license.
Technical Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
● Oral and written communication skills.
● English language skills.
● Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and blueprints.
● Troubleshooting and repair of commercial facility equipment.
● Knowledge of facility maintenance.
● Knowledge of building, state, local codes and regulations.
● Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and department
procedures.
● Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse
ethnic and educational backgrounds.
● Basic knowledge of Google Suite, ability to check school email on District provided computer to
ensure proper communication and receipt of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
● Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe
work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the
appropriate administrator.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
● Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones,
copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
● Operating knowledge of power tools and trade hand tools.
