Position Summary:
Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that
enables students to learn the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as
mature, able and responsible adults.
Education and Related Work Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree - minimum
Responsibilities and Duties:
Understand and adapt general principles of learning and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the
subject matter in planning an instructional program that meets the needs of each student.
Prepare detailed lesson plans that provide a variety of learning activities consistent with teaching to the
established curriculum objectives.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals,
establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to
students.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and best practices including relevant instructional
technology to support instruction.
Provide a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Establish effective methods of classroom management by communicating and monitoring behavioral
expectations and classroom procedures.

Demonstrate skill in use of positive reinforcement techniques related to student achievement and
behavior.
Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
Develop and communicate clear and consistent assessment practices that are understood by students.
Demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with immediate supervisors, parents,
students, peers, and other school related reference groups.
Present a positive school image and realize the importance of establishing effective, professional
school-community relations.
Constructively participate with other staff members in determining and achieving school programs,
goals, and objectives.
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative
regulation.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
Provide appropriate supervision and take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students,
equipment, materials, and facilities.
Attend and participate in department and faculty meetings.
Demonstrate a high quality of ethical behavior and personal conduct.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student
progress and student needs.
Keep up to date with developments in subject(s) taught, teaching resources and methods and make
relevant changes to instructional plans and activities through one’s own professional development and
growth.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; talk or hear.

The usual and customary methods of performing the functions of this position require the following
physical demands: significant walking and standing, fine finger dexterity for typing, and the ability to be
heard above normal sound levels. The job is performed under normal temperature variations and some
hazardous conditions. Work in a school, office, and classroom setting. Noise level may be loud at
times.
