Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Develops reviews, revises, submits and implements policies, procedures, goals and objectives for department operation.
• Annually review OB policies and procedures to determine whether they are current and in compliance with all federal, state regulatory requirements and CHCS policies and procedures.
• Ensures the continuity of care is maintained during all shifts of the department.
• Schedules necessary staffing for all shifts of operation by monitoring, evaluating and modifying staffing patterns utilizing national staffing guidelines and departmental staffing plan and minimal use of overtime.
• Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services to improve quality of patient care and utilization of staff time.
• Prepares monitors and requests adjustments to the annual departmental operating and capital budget in conjunction with administration.
• Develop, implement and fine-tune the orientation and education programs for assigned personnel. Coordinates the educational activities of the department, communicates new/revised protocols, guidelines, and standards.
• Monitors, implements, and participates in continuous quality improvement processes regarding topics pertinent to the department. Communicates with other departments to resolve operation problems and improve quality of services.
• Investigates, resolves, and documents the resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients, visitors, nursing staff, and families. Counsels associates of needed changes to behaviors or technical skills.
• Directs maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment and supplies to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety of patients and staff.
• As a working manager, performs the duties of an OB nurse as needed. Is a role model for providing the clinical needs of OB patients.
• Schedules Inductions/C-sections.
• Manages the Newborn Hearing Screening Program.
• Supports and abides by the mission, values, and policies of CHCS in all activities.
• On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements.
• Arrives on time and ready to work.
• All other duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum: Associate's Degree, Field of Study Nursing. 1-2 years of experience in Obstetrical Nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree, Field of Study Nursing. 5 plus years of experience in Obstetrical Nursing.
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Kansas.
Licenses: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC
Summary
Full Time: 40 hours a week.
