GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is grant funded under the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI). The COSI Achieve Success Coach supports the mission of the Community College of Denver by providing proactive, equity-minded, and holistic case management, academic advising, and wraparound support to COSI Achieve Scholars. The Navigator builds community and coaches scholars from recruitment through completion to support students to achieve their academic, transfer, and career goals. This position will lead the delivery of enhanced support services which can include but is not limited to academic success coaching, student success workshops, facilitating the utilization of tutoring services and campus resources, and creating meaningful experiences to promote academic, career, and financial goal setting and achievement. This position also assists in awarding and tracking scholarships connected to the COSI Achieve program.
The COSI Achieve Navigator and Success Coach manages the day-to-day administration of the grant, tracks data and assesses student success, and is responsible for reporting required progress to the college and the state. The position contributes directly to institutional goals for retention, persistence, completion, sense of belonging, and equitable student outcomes.
The COSI Achieve Navigator and Success Coach embraces case-management as a start-to-finish process that connects students to their purpose and plan on a continual basis. This position may require travel between the three campuses for student engagement, and reports to the Associate Dean of Student Success in the Academic Advising and Student Success Center. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in an area serving a diverse group of students.

Position Duties
Recruiting and Onboarding
- Develop and participate in comprehensive outreach and recruitment strategies that identify, engage, and inform prospective scholars about the program. These strategies will focus on building strong pipelines through collaborative partnerships with high schools, community organizations, workforce centers, and other relevant organizations.
- Provide COSI Achieve-eligible students and COSI Achieve scholars with the guidance, support, and resources necessary for the successful transition and enrollment to the postsecondary institution.
- Work directly with the Admissions, Recruitment, and Outreach (ARO) team to target outreach in high schools, community events, and with community partners.
- Work with prospective students on completing the CCD application and help them navigate all aspects of enrollment including completing all next steps, ensuring they are declared in the correct program of study, and completion of either the FAFSA or CAFSA.
- Collaborate with internal partners serving non-traditional students, including TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) and CCD’s High School Diploma (HSD) program, to recruit eligible students.
- Partner with the other members of the AASSC and other departments serving continuing students to identify current students who may be eligible for COSI Achieve and outreach to gauge interest in the program.
- Build and maintain positive, productive and professional relationships with potential students and industry partners.
Career, Academic, Transfer and Workforce Advisement, Support, & Success Coaching
- Utilize proactive educational case management to support the success and sense of belonging for the assigned caseload of COSI Achieve Scholars.
- Assist and advise students to identify their career goals and complete academic, transfer, or direct to work goals by co-creating personalized career and academic plans from start to finish; engage in this work with the end in mind for COSI Achieve Scholars to be prepared to transfer and/or enter the workforce.
- Provide accurate and timely information about CCD’s academic pathways, making connections to appropriate transfer institutions/programs and career fields that align with each student’s goals.
- Provide direction related to career exploration and course registration and direct students to internal/external resources to assist with eliminating barriers to their career and educational goals.
- Leverage Guided Pathway and transformational academic coaching practices to serve COSI Achieve Scholars; support the attainment of Student Services divisional and college goals and priorities; contribute to retention, completion, erasure of equity gaps; and facilitate successful transfer to a university or transition to the workforce.
- Develop, support, and innovate student retention and completion efforts, early alert systems tools, and strategies to identify and mitigate factors that prevent livable and high wage career exploration and decision-making, academic progress, retention, and completion.
- Proactively reach out to COSI Achieve Scholars to provide holistic & timely advisement.
- Meet with students in person, by phone, and videoconference. Continually monitor evolving educational and career needs of assigned students.
- Use Navigate360 strategically to provide coordinated and differentiated care, to document all advisement sessions, individualized success plan, semester by semester plans, interventions, outcomes, etc. with each assigned participant.
- When potential barriers to success are noted, facilitate access to on and off campus resources, such as but not limited to tutoring, one-on-one meetings with faculty, accessibility services, co-curricular activities, extra-curricular activities, personal wellness resources, financial wellness resources, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of all advisement and success coaching contacts using designated software or systems such as Banner and Navigate360, leveraging all available tools to report, monitor, track, document student notes, and communicate with students to
- Develop effective, customized communication plans for each student/category of students to ensure touchpoints continue to be clear and timely throughout the students’ time at CCD from start to finish.
Programming Development and Community Building
- Leverage existing student success programming and workshops to create a curriculum for academic success in alignment with career exploration, career readiness, academic planning, , goal setting, financial mastery, and other topics to bolster success and build community.
- Partner with the EXCEL Zone, SPARC, and other departments to create, expand, and provide access to workshop offerings relevant to COSI Achieve Scholars and grant requirements
- Organize and facilitate attendance to transfer events such as transfer representative meetings with COSI Achieve scholars at CCD and tours of universities, especially UC-D and MSU Denver.
- Organize and facilitate attendance to career readiness workshops and events
- Create, monitor, engage with, and update a D2L shell for COSI Achieve to include career readiness resources, study resources, registration resources, campus resources (mental health services, food pantry, etc.), and off-campus community resources
- Develop and connect COSI Achieve Scholars to holistic support resources to support students choosing an career and academic path, promote a sense of belonging on campus, and develop a professional network. These services promote retention and completion efforts for the program and may include students attending conferences participating in career/attribute/personality/strengths assessment activities and events, financial mastery programs, and program of study and career exploration mixers.
Scholarships Awarding, Tracking, and Financial Mastery
- Support students with knowing what financial requirements are required per the program of study they choose, this goes beyond credit tuition requirements, this includes other requirements such as uniforms costs, tools, state testing requirements, university transfer costs, etc.
- Support students with financial aid and scholarship applications, either in person or virtually, to ensure they complete all steps of FAFSA/CASFA to minimize or eliminate student loans.
- Guide participants through completion of the General Scholarship application. The general scholarship application will provide the Scholarship Office and the CCD Foundation with the ability to pair COSI matching scholarships with the right COSI Scholar.
- Advise COSI Achieve scholars on the importance of minimizing student loan debt and connect them to financial literacy programming.
- Distribute, track, and budget scholarship funds for COSI Achieve Scholars in compliance with the grant and institutional guidelines
Program Assessment, Evaluation, and Grant Compliance
- Track scholar success and academic progress including, but not limited to, semester-to semester and fall-to-fall retention, academic standing, number of credit hours taken per academic term, and progress towards receipt of credential and achievement of academic, transfer, and career goals.
- Compile and report success metrics of student progress in alignment with college and grant requirements to the college and COSI.
- Monitor compliance with COSI agreement guidelines.
- Execute assessments such as scholar satisfaction surveys and exit surveys to inform decisions and strategies around programming activities, success coaching, and COSI Scholar engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of all advisement contacts using identified departmental resources and tools such as Navigate 360 and Banner.
- In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student Success, and grants compliance coordinator track budget expenditures..
- Professional Development & Leadership
- Maintain currency in transformational and holistic advisement and academic success coaching best practices, college academic pathways and programs of study and requirements for admissions, completion, and transfer, transfer schools and transfer best practices, and career exposure, exploration, experiences and goal setting.
- Participate in college meetings, professional development events and trainings, review professional literature, and explore professional association websites/resources to stay current on career, academic, and financial advisement best practices, transfer and career coaching strategies, and other ways to support and serve students to produce successful outcomes
- Create and support efforts to build a student-centered, positive, collegial, productive culture where everyone can learn, grow, and innovate
- Engage in a commitment for personal leadership development, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Participate in professional development focused on supporting the career and academic success for all students, including those with historically marginalized identities.
Miscellaneous
- Attend grant required meetings and assigned departmental and college meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:(Minimum/Required)
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience: :(Minimum/Required)
Two (2) years of professional experience in higher education in advisement in student recruitment, admissions, financial aid, enrollment and registration, academic advising, or a similar position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:(Preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and to work independently or in a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
- Knowledge of admissions and registration processes.
Other Considerations: Willingness to travel, and work evening and weekend hours
