Postgraduate in Business/ Communications/ Design/ Development Studies/ Education/ Media/ Public Policy/ with relevant experience. Applicants with technical degrees are also welcome to apply.
Job Purpose:
The Communications Officer must be eager and willing to work flexibly alongside the Dean, VC, and other members of the leadership of TDU:
i) to communicate details of education programs and other activities at TDU through creation of documents, videos, and other materials that will help promote TDU among our stakeholders;
ii) to support the leadership in strategic fundraising efforts for the university; and
iii) to work on appropriate communications strategies for the TDU website and social.
The intent is for the selected candidate to help increase stakeholder engagement with TDU’s programs, generate funds for TDU from multiple sources, and promote TDU’s brand.
Remuneration: will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and TDU’s policies
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Creation and Management:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and edit content including news stories, social media posts, blog articles, and other written materials.
- Set up a process to ensure that all TDU’s social channels are regularly updated. ○ Support the development and management of content for TDU’s website, including updating and maintaining web content.
- Assist in producing visual content such as photos and videos, and coordinate with external designers and media professionals as needed.
2. Brand and Media Engagement:
- Help develop and maintain TDU’s brand by ensuring consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Support media relations efforts by drafting press releases, preparing media kits, and liaising with media contacts.
- Maintain a database of journalists specializing in health, environment, and education.
- Publish a quarterly newsletter that can be shared with TDU’s stakeholders.
- Bring out yearly brochure of TDU’s education programs.
3. Fund raising and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with the Dean, VC, and other leaders at the university to launch and maintain a strong fundraising program for the university. This will include: i) identifying new opportunities for CSR funding and engaging individual donors (philanthropists, HNIs etc.); ii) preparation of various collaterals and maintaining regular communication with potential funders.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with TDU’s funders, stakeholders, including industry bodies, media, and alumni.
4. Monitoring and Reporting:
- Prepare regular reports of progress on development and communication activities, and stakeholder engagement for quarterly review by the leadership team at the university.
- Help develop metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and assist in tracking performance against these metrics.
5. Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, VC, or the leadership team.
Experience:
- Candidates must have a mandatory minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in content creation and management of social media channels on behalf of institutions
- Proficiency in digital content creation tools and platforms, including social media and website management, demonstrable through the applicant’s body of work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content towards engaging various kinds of audiences
- Experience with fundraising will be strongly preferred
- Interest/ experience/ passion for the areas of work at TDU – transdisciplinary health sciences and technology will be a plus
- Candidate should be fluent in both English and Kannada. Knowledge of Hindi will be a plus.

Duration and Term:
- Full-time position 2-year contract (renewable)
- Probation period of 6-months
