About CoRe Collaborating for Resilience (CoRe) is an international, non-profit, entrepreneurial change initiative working to address resource competition and strengthen governance and livelihood resilience in interconnected resource domains and landscapes, including agricultural lands, forests, fisheries, inland waterways and coastal zones. Its mission is to advance multi-stakeholder processes and governance innovations for equitable and sustainable resource use. CoRe is a strategic partner in the design and implementation of systems change initiatives in India, Nepal, Guatemala, and Kenya and has supported initiatives in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. Across our work, we are engaged in bold agendas, working at multiple levels (local, state and national) to advance landscape restoration, livelihood resilience and inclusive, democratic governance, with a strong emphasis on Commons, Indigenous and local communities, and collaborative landscape action.
The Opportunity The Communications Associate actively supports the day-to-day operations related to communications and ensures strategic alignment with the CoRe’s mission and values. This role will be responsible for creating digital content, managing social media accounts and the website, and designing public facing outreach materials. The Communications Associate will have the opportunity to support new partner outreach and fundraising efforts for an international organization. The role will also include liaising with both India-based and internationally-based team members and program partners. The position is envisioned as a part-time, remote, independent contractor role. The candidate should be comfortable working with a diverse, international staff and managing work across multiple time zones. The role is open to candidates based in South and South-east Asia, including but not limited to India, Indonesia, Philippines.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include: • Developing visual and written communications content to be used for social media, website, marketing or outreach materials • Managing social media channels (primarily LinkedIn) • Website management and maintenance, including creating and updating content, tracking website analytics • Publication design, editing and layout for practitioner guides/manuals, policy briefs, program reports, articles • Newsletter and email outreach support through Mailchimp and Squarespace and tracking newsletter analytics • Marketing and Program Development support, including outreach to potential partners, distribution of updates, preparing PowerPoints and communications materials customized to partner needs • Ensuring consistent use of brand guidelines and communications strategy across organisational outreach and among team members • General communications, including correspondence with partners, responding to queries and sharing materials with partners, managing photo library • Other tasks as assigned to support CoRe
The role is expected to require no more than 20 hours of work per week and will be remunerated based on qualifications and experience, within a range of INR 4,000 – 7,000/day.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or diploma/professional certificate) in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related environmental and natural resource management disciplines
• At least 3 years’ experience working in a Communications department, ideally in an environmental or climate nonprofit/NGO setting. We are prioritising relevant communications experience over educational background.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, in addition to coordination among multiple partners, problem solving, and timely delivery of commitments, with limited supervision
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, CRM tools, and email marketing platforms
• Demonstrated portfolio of content and publication design and experience with Canva
• Experience and comfort with website management tools, particularly Squarespace
• Experience with AI design tools
• Basic photo and video editing skills
• Superb technical skills and willingness to learn new software programs and applications
• Ability to navigate multiple institutional dynamics to ensure smooth collaboration with team members and partners
• Communications support experience in a non-profit setting, ideally including experience with European or US-based non-profit organisations and familiarity with remote team collaboration
• Understanding of and commitment to international cooperation, social entrepreneurship and the imperatives of social and ecological resilience, informed by personal and professional experience
• Fluency in English is essential for this role. Proficiency in one or more national/regional languages is an advantage.
