Communications & Visual Lead
Mid - Senior | Full-time or 3 - 4 days/week | In-person, Mumbai
Role Description
This is a strategic and creative leadership role responsible for creating and executing the studio’s external voice and visual identity.
The role combines communications, outreach, and visual direction into a single position to ensure consistency in how Architecture BRIO is represented across publications, presentations, and digital platforms.
Working closely with the founders and senior team, this person will lead how Architecture BRIO is positioned within architectural discourse in India and internationally, while managing content production and coordinating writers and collaborators.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Direction
• Lead the studio’s communications and visual strategy, setting a clear narrative
direction across all outputs
• Build and deliver a focused 6-month roadmap aligned with studio priorities
• Coordinate closely with founders for approvals and alignment on key materials
• Drive engagement through studio visits, community-building initiatives, and
new audience outreach (India & NL)
2. Publications & Outreach
• Lead press outreach across Indian and international platforms, identifying and
securing opportunities
• Create project positioning and messaging for publications and awards
• Oversee all pitches, submissions, and press communication
• Build and maintain strong relationships with editors, curators, and media
contacts
3. Visual Direction
• Direct pitch decks, portfolios/ project books
• Ensure consistency in visual identity and storytelling• Oversee photography direction and selection
• Translate architectural work into clear visual & editorial narratives
4. Content & Digital
• Lead website and social media direction
• Approve weekly social media output
• Ensure alignment between visual and written content
• Oversee storytelling across platforms
5. Team & Collaboration
• Line manage Content Producer (part-time)
• Commission and manage freelance writers as needed
• Coordinate with photographers and external collaborators
Key Deliverables (6 Months)
• Defined studio narrative and messaging framework, applied across all outputs
• Updated pitch deck, portfolio materials, and website content
• Consistent publication outreach, securing features and visibility
• Structured awards strategy, with calendar and submissions delivered
• Clear and engaging social media presence with regular output
• Developed and maintained media and editor database
Skills & Requirements
• 6–10+ years in architecture communications, design media, or visual direction
• Strong editorial judgement and visual sensibility
• Experience across publications, outreach, and narrative/graphic storytelling
• Ability to translate complex architectural work into clear, compelling narratives
• Proven ability to manage multiple outputs, timelines, and collaborators
• Strong strategic thinking, organisation, and leadership skills
• Comfortable working closely with founders and internal team
What the first 6 months look like
In the first few months, you will focus on understanding the studio’s body of work, defining how it should be communicated, and setting up a clear narrative and visual direction. This includes reworking key materials such as the pitch deck and portfolios, while establishing relationships with publications and identifying opportunities for visibility.As momentum builds, you will lead submissions, create project stories for different platforms, and bring consistency across outputs - from publications to social media.
Alongside this, you will set up systems for working, manage contributors, and ensure
that communication becomes more proactive, structured, and aligned with the studio’s
ambitions.
This role is particularly important now as the studio is looking to consolidate how it
presents itself externally and expand its presence internationally in a focused and
coherent way.
Compensation
Salary: ₹8 - 15 LPA before taxes (depending on experience and portfolio)
We are open to structuring this based on the candidate’s experience, with scope for
growth as the role evolves
