Brain Bristle is a not-for-profit foundation for autism and inclusion, currently based in Mumbai. The organization works with low-income schools across the city to build high-quality education, exposure, and inclusion for students on the autism spectrum and other high learning needs. Brain Bristle focuses on building inclusive school environments from the ground up, strengthening advocacy for autism, and conducting workshops and awareness programs to expand the reach and impact of its work.
Its founder, Devangana Mishra, is also a poet, writer, artist and speaker, author of the poetry collection Desierto Florido (2026) and the verse novel 26, Kamala Nehru Ridge, Civil Lines, Delhi (2023), with her next work, May I Bombay?, releasing Summer 2027. She has spoken at platforms from the World Economic Forum, Davos, to literature festivals and universities globally. Her art and her mission of inclusion, education and the arts move together, and this role exists to make both travel further.
We are hiring a Communications & Partnerships Lead with a dual mandate: manage the public presence and partnerships of the Founder, an artist, poet and speaker and own communications and partnerships for Brain Bristle.
Your Role: Founder Partnerships
- Run the bookings pipeline: poetry reading, speaking, keynotes, panels, and poetry workshops — inquiries answered within 48 hours, rate card quoted, calendar managed, logistics smooth.
- Drive brand and cultural partnerships: commissioned poetry, campaign collaborations, and paid performances pitched proactively, priced properly, delivered impeccably.
- Keep the media kit, booking profile, showreel and website current; pitch press, podcasts, and literature festivals in India and internationally.
- After giving enough light to Desierto Florido, build the launch runway for her next work, May I Bombay? (Summer 2027): festival submissions, review copies, media outreach, launch events.
- Manage the Founder's social presence with her voice, performance clips, essays, announcements and grow the owned audience (newsletter first).
Your Role: Brain Bristle
- Build and run the Brain Bristle's communications strategy: widen audiences, messages, calendar, brand consistency across website, social, decks and events.
- Share wid the story of the work with consent and dignity- impact stories, widen newsletter reach, support development of annual report, Autism Acceptance Month and other campaigns.
- Build the backend work for the training and research verticals- marketing materials, video reels, outreach, targeted emails and calls.
- Drive the partnership strategy; build the CSR and funder pipeline, research, outreach, pitch decks, school visits, MOUs, and stewardship that turns one-time donors into multi-year allies.
- Design foundation events- talent hunts, galas, fundraisers & benefit performances, awareness programs with sponsors served impeccably.
- Report impact on work with rigor: dashboards, case studies, and the numbers-plus-story format funders act on.
Who We're Looking For
Must-haves
- 2–4+ years in communications, artist/talent management, partnerships, fundraising, or brand roles.
- Excellent writing in English from a caption to a funder proposal to a press pitch with a portfolio to show it.
- Hands-on social media management: content design, calendars, analytics.
- Experience managing external relationships toward outcomes: bookers, sponsors, donors, media, or institutional partners.
- Event planning and delivery experience; comfort negotiating fees and closing agreements.
- A feel for both worlds: the arts (poetry, performance, publishing) and social impact and the ability to tell moving stories with consent, dignity and zero pity-framing.
Great-to-haves
- Experience managing an artist, author, speaker or public figure.
- Working knowledge of India's CSR landscape (Section 135; 12A/80G/CSR-1; what CSR teams need).
- Publishing or literary-world familiarity (festivals, reviews, launches).
- Media familiarity
- Design skills (Canva/Adobe), basic video editing, or photography; Hindi and/or Marathi.
Practicals
- Location: Mumbai-based, with travel to partner schools, venues, events and partner offices; occasional travel for festivals and out-of-city engagements.
- Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: [Range / commensurate with experience].
- Reports to: Founder, working with her daily.
