MITTI Café is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering adults with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities by providing employment and experiential training. Operating over 40 cafes in prominent locations like airports, corporates, and governmental offices across cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Lucknow, these cafes are fully operated by persons with disabilities, having served over 10 million meals and beverages so far. The organization also facilitates experiential training, offers Karuna Meals to economically vulnerable families, and features gifts crafted by marginalized communities through its Good Gifts platform. Since its inception, MITTI Café has gained recognition for its social impact, winning prestigious awards like the Forbes 30 Under 30 and the NITI Aayog Women Transforming India Award.
Role Description
We are looking for a dedicated Commi Chef to join our on-site team in Navi Mumbai for a full-time position. The Commi Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking food, maintaining high standards of hygiene, assisting senior chefs during meal preparation, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and presented in line with standards. The role also involves ensuring that the kitchen workspace and equipment are clean and maintained, and collaborating with the team to deliver quality dining experiences.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in Food Preparation and Cooking techniques
- Proficiency in Culinary Skills with attention to detail for quality presentation
- Adherence to workplace Hygiene and safety standards in kitchen operations
- Effective Communication skills to work collaboratively with team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with adaptability and a commitment to excellence
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen environment is preferred but not mandatory
- A passion for food and promoting inclusivity in the workplace
