Leads a crew of workers engaged in operating equipment and performing maintenance work associated with various projects within the Solid & Hazardous Waste Division. Provides courteous, responsive customer service to residents, including assisting with recycling center drop-offs, answering questions, and ensuring materials are properly sorted and disposed of in accordance with established guidelines

Position Duties

• Leads the operation and staff for county recycling drop-off centers.
• Provides courteous, responsive customer service to customers that visit drop-off centers, and ensures materials are properly sorted and disposed of in accordance with established guidelines.
• Maintain facilities and ensure adherence to established safety procedures.
• Oversees and assists in performing various tasks involving material management - recycles oils, anti-freeze, fluorescent tubes and mercury, batteries, or other materials; hauls/transports metals and white goods; stores and bales cardboard and aluminum materials; stacks and disposes of scrap metals; cleans dumping areas; and coordinates sales to customers, receipt of payments, and forwarding of revenues.
• Monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations.
• Leads a crew of workers in operating equipment and performing maintenance work associated with various projects within an assigned department/division of the County.
• Provides direction, training, and assistance to employees; coordinates daily work activities; organizes and prioritizes workload; makes work assignments and evaluates work; monitors status of work; and troubleshoots problem situations.
• Responds to complaints and inquires related to division activities
• Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials; and obtains competitive bids and price quotes.
• Performs administrative tasks; reviews logs/forms completed by staff members; develops work schedules to ensure adequate coverage; reviews timecards and research discrepancies; and prepares payroll documents and forwards for payment.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Coordinates and communicates with vendors, contractors, and customers.
• Utilizes a computer for multiple applications such as scale software, logbooks, and tracking spreadsheets etc.; and instruct/trains other employees in system use.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One (1) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting Required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

 Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. 
Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency.  The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
