This is a part-time position for the Campus Safety Department that involves all facets of maintaining a safe college and campus environment for students, staff and community members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Patrolling campus on foot, bicycle, and/or in a vehicle related to traffic control, pedestrian crossing and parking by being attentive regarding the movement of people, goods, or vehicles on campus.
- Maintaining security in all buildings by:
- Locking and unlocking buildings;
- Performing a walk-through inside all buildings at least once daily per shift;
- Monitoring and checking for mechanical problems, unusual sounds or abnormal conditions in any of the buildings while on shift or patrolling the area;
- Making use of computer software to reports, work orders, reviewing footage and/or campus monitoring alarm systems;
- Checking and maintaining campus buildings and vehicles as to emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, AED kits and first aid kits.
- Responding to all fire alarms, traffic accidents, and emergencies.
- Responding to a variety of requests for assistance from students, staff, and faculty, as well as community members on campus.
- Conducting investigations when appropriate or requested by supervisor.
- Preparing and filing required incident reports, accident reports, personal statements, and other miscellaneous documents.
- Completing training and maintaining compliance regarding the following duties as they relate to Clery Act:

- Identifying and adhering to Clery Act requirements;
- Recognizing and fulfilling the responsibilities as a Campus Security Authority;
- Reporting all Clery crimes to the designated staff.
- Following CSI policies, procedures and code of conduct.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Must be able to pass criminal history reference check without any felonies. You will be asked to fill out a Personal History Statement along with taking a polygraph test.
- Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Ability to work well with, interact with, read, write and communicate effectively with coworkers, colleagues, students, and community members regularly.
- Must be motivated, reliable and accountable and hold one’s self to a high level of professional ethics and integrity in dealing with confidential information and general nature of services provided.
- Must apply common sense and sound judgment when carrying out tasks or facing a multitude of situations.
- Develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with coworkers, colleagues, faculty and staff members.
- Show respect for the opinions of others and behave in such a way as to ensure an atmosphere of respect and trust regardless of cultural or socio-economic backgrounds.
- Must adapt to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished with minimal or no notice.
- Must possess basic computer and office machinery skills.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to perform the major functions of the job such as driving a Campus Safety Department vehicle, riding a bicycle, walking frequently, and climbing flights of stairs.
