Job Description
Producer/Assistant Producer will be responsible for error-free writing, editing and producing a range of digital content - in text, video, and audio formats for our Website, TV, Social Platforms and podcasts, to the highest professional standards. You will also be required to exercise editorial judgement of the highest standards in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.

It has more than 250 journalists and operational staff, bringing you distinctive, impartial and world-class content and is the BBC’s sole provider of content for its Indian language websites and social media platforms including English. Key responsibilities and accountabilities


  • Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
  • Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
  • To undertake pre- and post-production and studio work, live and pre-recorded. Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver programmes in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
  • To liaise closely with other team members and with other departments in the BBC, to ensure that output material is shared, duplication is avoided, and best practice is upheld.
  • To tailor different news treatments for different audiences ensuring that the output reflects the audiences we serve.
  • To prioritise and plan activities taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines, staffing and resources available.
  • To produce engaging packages through a range of production skills.
  • Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
  • At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the BBC health and safety policy.


Requirements

Knowledge, skills, training and experience


  • The ideal candidate will have recent experience as a journalist, with a good knowledge of current affairs and a sound judgement of news.
  • You will have an excellent command over written and spoken Hindi, and a good understanding of English.
  • You will be able to translate from English to Hindi swiftly and accurately, to produce error-free content that is relevant to BBC Hindi audiences.
  • You will have experience of production techniques for Digital, Social and Video platforms.
  • You will have experience of managing social media channels to build engagement and increase referrals back to the website.
  • You will also have the ability to write scripts & produce digital videos.
  • You will have the ability to produce original stories from the desk and also doing ground reports from the field.
  • You will have the ability to work in a high-pressure news environment, delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
  • You will also be able to liaise with other team members and with other departments in the BBC, to ensure that output is shared, duplication is avoided, and best practices upheld.
