About the role

Senior Video Journalist will be responsible for filming, editing and producing original long and short-form videos for BBC News Tamil's Website, social platforms and podcasts to the highest professional standards. You will also be required to exercise editorial judgment of the highest standards in developing video story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism. To know more about us, please visit our website: https://collectivenewsroom.com/ Last Date to Apply: 29 April 2025 Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Responsible for originating and producing stories, filming, editing and producing a range of video, audio and digital content for BBC audiences for website, social platforms, TV and podcast to the highest professional standards. Required to work with editorial and planning teams. Required to film and edit material for TV broadcasts, online, newsgathering in the field, live or recorded, often edited in the field, to feed material back to the base, utilizing the latest technology. Required to work at the edit desk regularly whenever needed. May be required to travel and join the shift at short notice, therefore flexibility is essential. Relevant craft skills (camera work, lighting editing) are essential, together with excellent digital journalism knowledge. Must be able to operate current broadcast technical equipment on location and at base, demonstrating a well-developed sense of visual awareness and a willingness to learn how to use new technology and kit. Broad understanding of the target audience is important. Proficiency in Tamil and a basic understanding of English is required. Deliver journalism of the highest standard and within the required timeframe using available resources. Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards. At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the company's health and safety policy.
