About the role

We are seeking a results-driven Ductile Fabrication Manager to oversee our fabrication and shop operations. You will be responsible for streamlining production, ensuring safety compliance, and managing a high-performing team to meet manufacturing objectives on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Management: Direct all shop activities including production, maintenance, quality control, and purchasing.
  • Production Planning: Coordinate with Project Managers and Shipping/Receiving to ensure accurate scheduling and timely delivery of orders.
  • Inventory & Logistics: Maintain inventory levels (ductile iron pipe, flanges, consumables) and oversee the lifecycle of materials from receipt to final shipment.
  • Leadership: Supervise shop staff, manage hiring/accountability, and conduct quarterly performance reviews to foster a productive culture.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Enforce safety protocols to maintain an accident-free workplace and oversee the maintenance of machines and facilities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Expertise: 5+ years of fabrication shop experience; must be able to read engineering drawings and possess knowledge of pipe spools or pressure vessels.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing teams of 10+ people.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Education: BS/BA in a related discipline (advanced degrees or specific FP FAB experience may offset years of experience).
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ASME codes is a significant plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in shop environments (dust, noise, temperature fluctuations) and occasionally in confined spaces or adverse weather.
