Cognizant is seeking a Mainframe DB2 Systems and Application DBA.

In this role, you will:
Create, manage, and administer IBM DB2 databases on z/OS across multiple environments.
Install, upgrade, and maintain DB2 z/OS subsystems, including version upgrades, Function Level upgrades, RSU maintenance, and PTF deployments using SMP/E.
Perform system and application-level performance tuning, SQL tuning, and troubleshooting of DB2-related issues.
Manage DB2 buffer pool tuning, capacity planning, and access path stability.
Plan, test, and execute DB2 disaster recovery procedures, including backup, restore, recovery, and archival practices.
Perform and support DB2 data refreshes across environments (PROD to QA/UAT/DEV) using unload/load, DSN1COPY, and image copy–based techniques, ensuring post-refresh validation.
Support DB2 data migration, archival, and environment synchronization activities.
Review, validate, and implement DDL changes (CREATE, ALTER, DROP) for DB2 objects as part of application deployments, migrations, and schema evolution.
Provide DB2 design, development, and administration support to application teams, including s21chema design and change management whenever needed.
Coordinate with application teams for BIND and REBIND activities, ensuring access path stability and release support.
Administer DB2 z/OS system parameters, subsystem configuration, and DB2 data sharing environments.
Work with WLM to manage DB2 workloads and ensure optimal service levels.
Support DB2 security, authorization, and compliance with enterprise DB2 standards.
Utilize DB2 utilities such as UNLOAD, LOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS, IMAGECOPY, and DSN1COPY for database administration activities.
Maintain and support DB2-related tools including DB2 LUW,BMC DB2 products, QMF, HPU, and CA-Platinum, including tool upgrades and maintenance.
Leverage strong working knowledge of SMP/E, ISPF dialog management, JCL, and REXX for DB2 administration and automation.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills):
8+ year experience in managing Mainframe DB2 and DB2 LUW Systems.
Experience familiar with IBM and other vendors web sites: Open problem cases, ask questions, prepare and send dumps.
Provide training, technical guidance, and mentoring to junior DBAs and team members.
Demonstrate strong communication, documentation, coordination, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Compensation: We are offering between $90,000 – $115,000. Applications will be accepted until Apr 24th, 2026.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
