Our team supports Orion, the Navy’s enterprise DevSecOps environment, delivering capabilities to Naval organizations, including source code management, CI/CD pipelines, software security, testing environments, and agile project management tools.
Description
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to support the U.S. Navy’s Orion DevSecOps platform, a mission-critical environment hosted in AWS GovCloud. This role is responsible for end-to-end cloud architecture, platform engineering, and operational support of a secure, highly available DevSecOps ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings deep AWS architecture expertise, strong Kubernetes experience (EKS), and familiarity with DoD security and identity systems.
Duties:
Cloud Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Design, implement, and evolve secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architectures supporting enterprise DevSecOps workloads
- Own cloud networking architecture (VPC design, routing, private endpoints, hybrid connectivity, etc.)
- Lead infrastructure-as-code (IaC) strategy using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Ensure platform alignment with DoD security controls and compliance frameworks
Kubernetes & Container Platform (EKS)
- Architect and manage Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters supporting mission applications
- Define cluster configuration, scaling strategies, networking (CNI), and workload isolation
- Troubleshoot complex Kubernetes issues across control plane and workloads
Identity Services
- Serve as Application Owner for:
- Fusion Authentication Service (FAS)
- OpenLDAP directory services
- Support integration with DoD PKI and identity systems
- Ensure high availability, security, and performance of authentication services
Skills & Experience:
- 10 years of IT experience, with 5+ years in cloud architecture roles
- Deep expertise in AWS (GovCloud preferred), including: VPC design, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, networking, and security services
- Proven experience designing and operating production Kubernetes environments (EKS required)
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Experience supporting enterprise DevSecOps platforms and CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems administration and networking
- Ability to support production environments and lead outage responses
Other Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (mandatory)
- Ability to obtain or maintain Secret Security Clearance (mandatory)
- Ability to obtain or maintain CompTIA Security+ and Windows Server 2012+ certification (mandatory)
- Prior work with Navy or DoD enterprise applications (desired)

- Fully Remote within the U.S.

Compensation:
- $85-90 per hour (W2)
