Role Description The Coating Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Jamshedpur, responsible for overseeing and verifying coating, painting, and insulation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting surface preparation and coating application, monitoring environmental conditions, and verifying material certifications and batch records. The role involves performing quality control checks, documenting inspection results, preparing reports, and coordinating with project supervisors, contractors, and client representatives. The Coating Inspector will also support nonconformance management, recommend corrective actions, and promote safe work practices during all coating and insulation operations. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to TÜV Rheinland’s quality and safety policies are essential.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of coatings and paint application, including surface preparation standards and coating system selection.
- Experience with insulation inspection and verification of installation quality and materials.
- Demonstrated quality control skills, including inspection planning, reporting, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO, NACE, SSPC).
- Supervisory skills to oversee on-site coating and insulation activities, coordinate with contractors, and ensure adherence to procedures.
- Relevant technical qualification in engineering or materials science, or equivalent industrial coating/inspection certification (e.g., NACE, FROSIO, SSPC) preferred.
- Experience in industrial, oil & gas, infrastructure, or construction environments with field inspection responsibilities.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements related to coating and insulation works.
- Strong attention to detail, clear report writing, and effective communication with project stakeholders.
- Commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards, with the ability to identify and mitigate site risks.
