About the role

This role is responsible for developing compelling experiences and capabilities across CNN Digital web properties, native mobile applications, and connected TV apps. This role will shape a holistic messaging experience that harnesses alerts, newsletters, and email. In addition, this role will transform how our users manage and control their content and preferences, putting them in control of how CNN delivers our world to theirs. This work in turn enables CNN to grow, engage, convert, monetize, and retain our audience. Leads and executes across all phases of the design process from conception to implementation to include (but not limited to) wire-framing, prototyping, and visual design. Leads large-scale highly strategic projects that are deemed business critical. Contributes to a clear vision for the future of design and demonstrates ability to implement forward-thinking design. Transforms ideas of concepts into visually tangible flows and plans. Builds collaborative relationships with internal stakeholder leads (product management, engineering, revenue) to ensure consistency with broader product goals and company objectives. Demonstrates strong understanding & implementation of internal design process. Leads team in framing and providing thoughtful solutions to complex design problems. Demonstrates influence across the organization, mentoring other individual contributors and leaders. Qualifications & Experience Design portfolio demonstrating strong UX and visual design solutions, with an emphasis on identifying and meaningfully solving true user problems. 8+ years professional experience, specifically as a Product Designer. Mastery in Figma UX software. Solid prototyping and presentation skills. Foundational understanding HTML and CSS. Exceptional track record to execute on product design strategy, mentor designers, and partner with cross-functional team members. Experience building world-class product experiences, streamlining workflows with continuous iteration and improvement. Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead user experience design, including usability principles, user research methodology, testing techniques, design theory, and interaction design. Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience. Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get things done. Take smart risks and champion new ideas. Experience designing messaging strategies for content delivery platforms, including newsletters, alerts, and email communications. Experience with news environments and content publishing a plus.
