Job Description: CNC Turret Punching & Nesting Operator

​Location: Yeshwanthpur / Bangalore, KA

Reports to: Shop Floor Manager / Production Head

​

 

Role Objective

​To setup, operate, and optimize the Trumpf TruPunch 1000 (S05) for high-precision component manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for translating CAD designs into efficient nested programs to minimize scrap and ensure high-quality throughput in CRCA and Stainless Steel.

Key Responsibilities

​1. Machine Operation & Setup

 

·       Tooling Management: Setup and calibrate the linear tool rail (up to 15 stations). Select appropriate punches, dies, and strippers based on material thickness and type.

·       Operation: Execute punching cycles for parts including louvers, knockouts, and thread forming.

·       Quality Control: Perform first-off inspections using calipers and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy (tolerances typically within 0.1 mm).

​2. Programming & Nesting (TruTops / Boost)

 

·       Nesting Optimization: Utilize nesting software to arrange parts on standard sheet sizes (e.g., 2500mm x 1250mm) to achieve a target utilization of 85% or higher.

·       Common Cut/Shared Hits: Implement common-line punching where possible to reduce machine "hits" and save time.

·       Micro-Tabbing: Apply strategic micro-tabs for small parts to prevent them from tilting or falling into the machine bed before reaching the part removal flap.

​3. Material & Technical Handling

 

·       Material Selection: Distinguish between CRCA, SS 304/316, and Aluminum; adjust clearance between punch and die accordingly

·       Scrap Management: Monitor the scrap conveyor and ensure skeleton sheets are safely removed and logged for recycling.

Required Skills & Qualifications

 

·       Experience: 2–5 years operating CNC Punching machines (Trumpf experience is good, but it is not a must).

·       Software: Proficiency in TruTops Punch, Trumpf Boost, or third-party nesting software like Metalix or SigmaNEST.

·       Technical Math: Ability to calculate bend deductions and punching force to ensure the 165 kN limit of the S05 is not exceeded.

·       Blueprint Reading: Expert ability to read industrial 2D drawings and 3D unfolded views.

​

Preferred Attributes

 

·       Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles.

·       Knowledge of maintenance for hydraulic systems and brush tables.
