What You'll Do

  • Manage CMC's litigation docket, including construction disputes (contract claims, product liability, warranty, delay and disruption, mechanic's liens) and commercial matters (breach of contract, collections, indemnity and contribution)
  • Coordinate with risk management/insurance carriers on tendered claims, coverage, and defense of insured matters; select, retain, and direct outside counsel; set litigation strategy, approve budgets, and hold firms accountable to performance expectations
  • Partner with business teams to identify and resolve potential disputes before escalation, advise on contract terms and documentation best practices, manage litigation holds, and provide regular reporting on case status, exposure, and outcomes to leadership
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning all company matters, including but not limited to personnel actions, legal actions, etc.
  • Ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, city guidelines, and local and state regulations are met for the construction project
  • Communicate and manage established tasks with clients in various areas of the business regarding legal issues and requirements

What You'll Need

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and negotiate legal documents
  • Experience working with Legal, Audit and compliance staff
  • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies , laws and guidelines

Your Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or paralegal certification preferred
  • Paralegal certification from an ABA approved school
