Staff Architect, Platform Architecture

Role Overview
The Staff Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and driving infrastructure platforms that deliver secure, reliable, and scalable services across a diverse portfolio of projects. The role requires deep expertise in cloud technologies, automation, and modern infrastructure practices to architect and implement innovative platform solutions.
In addition, the role provides technical leadership, mentors engineering teams, and ensures infrastructure capabilities align with evolving business and technology objectives.
Key Responsibilities Architecture & Technical Governance (80%)
- Define and promote infrastructure standards, frameworks, and reference architectures aligned with organizational strategy.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud and infrastructure technologies, driving best practices and adoption.
- Design, prototype, and enhance infrastructure platforms and self-service capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to prioritize and deliver platform features and enhancements.
- Establish and monitor operational metrics, including usage, cost, security, and compliance, to evaluate platform effectiveness.
- Participate in architecture reviews and governance processes.
- Review code, infrastructure definitions, and technical deliverables to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Drive solutions from proof-of-concept through production-ready implementation and operationalization.
- Review and assess incoming architecture review requests through internal governance platforms such as Archie.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement (20%)
- Mentor and train engineers, product teams, and delivery teams on infrastructure and platform best practices.
- Provide technical guidance on complex architecture and delivery challenges.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to assess current and future infrastructure needs.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends.

- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Familiarity with identity and access management solutions.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud landing zone architectures.
Preferred Experience
- Background in software development and application architecture.
- Exposure to data platforms, data engineering, or analytics technologies.
- Experience working with AI/ML or Generative AI technologies.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go for infrastructure and API automation.
- Advanced experience with HashiCorp technologies, including Terraform and Vault.
