Job title — Cloud Infrastructure Head
Overview:
The Head of Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for managing and optimizing AWS cloud infrastructure and overseeing the administration of Linux and Windows servers. This role includes implementing network segregation, managing different environments (Production, UAT, QA), and ensuring effective disaster recovery and business continuity planning. The specialist will collaborate closely with IT and development teams, utilizing DevOps processes to enhance the scalability and reliability of cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWS Infrastructure Management: Oversee the setup, maintenance, and optimization of AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, auto scale and performance.
- Web & DB Server Management: Oversee self managed Web(Apache, NGINX, IIS) and DB(MySql, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, SQL) servers and make sure it follows best security and backup standards.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security policies and protocols, including network segregation, to meet compliance standards across all cloud services.
- Server Administration: Manage and configure servers (Linux, windows, etc.), optimizing them for cloud-based operations across different environments such as Production, UAT, and QA.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical support and troubleshooting to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
- Disaster Recovery and BCP: Develop and manage disaster recovery plans and business continuity processes to minimize downtime and ensure rapid recovery in the event of a disaster.
- Collaboration and Advisory: Work closely with IT and development teams to recommend infrastructure improvements and participate in strategic planning sessions.
- Automation and Scalability: Utilize automation tools to enhance the scalability and reliability of cloud environments.
- Environment Management: Effectively manage multiple environments, ensuring each is appropriately segregated and operates under optimal conditions.
- Cost Optimization: Implement cost-saving strategies and continuously seek opportunities to reduce infrastructure costs.
Outcomes:
- Reliability and Uptime: Ensure consistently high uptime for all cloud services and infrastructure. Measure: Maintain uptime of 99.9% or higher.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Continuously improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of cloud infrastructure. Measure: Reduce cloud infrastructure costs by 15% while improving performance metrics by 25%.
- Innovation: Drive innovation in cloud infrastructure management and automation. Measure: Implement at least 3 new automation tools or processes annually.
- Effective Disaster Recovery: Implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans that align with organizational risk tolerance. Measure: Achieve a recovery time objective (RTO) of less than 1 hour and a recovery point objective (RPO) of less than 15 minutes.
Competencies:
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of AWS cloud services, Linux, Window server, RDS administration, network architecture, and cloud security protocols.
- DevOps Knowledge: Strong grasp of DevOps processes and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and automation tools.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing infrastructure issues.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and changes in the cloud computing landscape.
- Project Management: Proficient in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and strict budgets.
Experience & Background:
- At least 10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure or similar roles
- Extensive experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure, managing different environments, and overseeing disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security Specialty, or similar relevant certifications. Experience with ISO 27001 certification process is highly desirable.
Additional Details: -
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday to Friday for nine hours. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
