Role: Cloud Architect

About Project:
- We are hiring a Cloud Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of our cloud platform across media and AI service systems
- You will partner with backend developers, AI/ML engineers, and product teams to build scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud foundations for consumer mobile experiences, media-processing backends, and AI inference workloads
- This is not a diagrams-only role. We expect the Cloud Architect to validate designs by building working MVPs and POCs, leveraging AI coding tools to move rapidly from architecture to runnable code
- You will own architectural standards, drive platform-level decisions, and ensure the organization scales its cloud footprint confidently across regions and providers.
Required Skills:
- 12+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years in cloud architecture or senior platform engineering
- Deep AWS expertise with production experience across compute, storage, databases, networking, messaging, and identity
- Experience designing multi-account, multi-region, or multi-cloud architectures with separation of concerns and blast radius isolation
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals: CAP tradeoffs, consistency models, partitioning, consensus, and failure domain isolation
- Experience defining IaC standards and reusable module libraries using Terraform
- Proven security architecture skills: network segmentation, least-privilege IAM, encryption at rest/in transit, secrets rotation, and compliance frameworks
- Experience with container orchestration (ECS, EKS/Kubernetes) and serverless, with judgment about when to use each
- Cost management awareness: reserved instances, spot fleets, storage lifecycle policies, and FinOps tooling
- Ability to produce clear architectural documentation: context diagrams, sequence diagrams, deployment views, threat models, and ADRs
- Hands-on experience with at least one non-AWS cloud (Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, or Tencent Cloud) sufficient for cross-cloud service mapping
- Coding ability in Python or TypeScript to build MVPs and reference implementations independently
- Proficiency with AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) for rapid prototyping and design validation
- Ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience architecting media processing or CDN platforms with high throughput, ingest, transcoding, and lifecycle management
- Experience designing AI/ML inference platforms: GPU scheduling, model serving, batch vs. real-time patterns, and cost-effective scaling
- Familiarity with cloud-native OSS: Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, OpenTelemetry, Kafka, Temporal, ArgoCD, Crossplane, or similar
- Data platform architecture experience: lake formats (Iceberg, Delta, Hudi), streaming pipelines, analytics engines, and data governance
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA awareness, data residency requirements)
- Experience with platform engineering: internal developer platforms, service catalogs, self-service provisioning, and golden path templates
- Experience leading architecture review boards, RFC processes, or technical governance committees
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent certifications are a plus – but production experience matters more
- Experience with FinOps frameworks, cost allocation models, and unit economics for cloud services
- Familiarity with chaos engineering, game days, and resilience testing. Success Looks Like – A clear, documented reference architecture guides decisions and reduces ad-hoc design
- Designs are validated through working POCs that de-risk implementation and give teams a concrete starting point
- Infrastructure is secure by default, cost-efficient, and scales predictably
- Multi-cloud and multi-region capabilities have clear migration paths and runbooks – not reactive scrambles
- Engineers ship new services confidently using established patterns and guardrails without bottlenecks
- Architectural decisions are recorded and revisited systematically, not stored as tribal knowledge
- Cost growth is proportional to business value with visibility into unit economics
- The platform supports rapid experimentation while maintaining reliability, security, and compliance.
