<br>At <strong>Closets by Design</strong>, a CNC Operator (often titled as a <strong>Machine Operator</strong> or <strong>Shop Technician</strong>) is responsible for manufacturing custom home organization systems, including closets, home offices, and garage cabinetry. Unlike general metalworking roles, this position focuses heavily on <strong>woodworking</strong> and <strong>nested-base processing</strong> of sheet goods like melamine and plywood. </div><div><strong>Core Responsibilities</strong></div><ul>
<li>
<strong>Machine Operation</strong>: Operate CNC routers (such as the HOMAG) to cut, drill, and route panels based on specific job packets.</li>
<li>
<strong>Technical Documentation</strong>: Read and interpret <strong>cut lists</strong> and CAD designs generated by software like <a href="https://www.cabinetvision.com/">Cabinet Vision</a> to ensure parts are produced to the correct dimensions.</li>
<li>
<strong>Quality & Accuracy</strong>: Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and finish. You are responsible for labeling parts correctly for the next production step.</li>
<li>
<strong>Maintenance</strong>: Perform routine cleaning and calibration of machinery, such as managing vacuum pumps and dust collection systems.</li>
<li>
<strong>Cross-Functional Support</strong>: Rotate between various shop areas, which may include running an <strong>edgebander</strong>, table saw, or assisting with assembly and loading installers' trucks.</li>
</ul><div><strong>Key Skills & Requirements</strong></div><ul>

<strong>Experience</strong>: Prior experience in <strong>custom woodworking</strong> or cabinet making (specifically 32mm systems) is highly preferred, though may offer <strong>paid training</strong> for motivated beginners.</li>

<strong>Physical Demands</strong>: Capability to stand for an 8-hour shift and lift materials weighing between <strong>45 and 50 lbs</strong> regularly.</li>
<li>
<strong>Technical Aptitude</strong>: Basic mathematical proficiency in algebra and geometry for adjusting machine offsets and interpreting technical drawings.</li>
<li>
<strong>Detail-Oriented</strong>: Strong focus on quality to avoid material waste in a fast-paced production environment. </li>
