About the role
CareConnect is building an AI-enabled healthcare platform supporting patient triage, telemedicine, and coordinated provider referrals, with an initial focus on maternal and child health. We're looking for a senior clinician to own the clinical quality, process, and people backbone of our telemedicine service. This is a hands-on role: equal parts clinical quality reviewer, protocol author, recruiter's clinical partner, and AI/content sanity-checker.
In the early days, the role will also involve personally taking telemedicine calls alongside the rest of the doctor network to help cover consultation volume.
Key Responsibilities
1. Medical oversight of telemedicine doctors
- Review the clinical accuracy and quality of consultations conducted by telemedicine MDs on an ongoing basis — diagnosis, documentation, treatment plans, and escalation decisions.
- Conduct structured case audits and spot-checks; identify patterns of concern and follow up directly with individual doctors.
- Close the loop on flagged or escalated cases — ensure corrective action is taken and outcomes are tracked.
- Define and monitor clinical quality metrics/benchmarks for the doctor network.
2. Process and protocol development
- Design, write, and maintain clinical protocols, SOPs, decision-support rules, referral criteria, and escalation pathways for telemedicine.
- Ensure protocols reflect current clinical evidence and applicable telemedicine regulatory requirements.
- Build and refine the operational processes that keep the doctor roster, onboarding, and escalation handling running smoothly.
- Roll out protocol and process changes to the doctor network and monitor adherence.
3. Recruitment and vetting of in-house MDs
- Conduct or lead clinical vetting: credential verification, clinical competency assessment, and interview evaluation.
4. AI validation support
- Contribute clinical review and validation input for AI-assisted triage and decision-support tools, as needed.
- Flag clinical accuracy issues, edge cases, or safety concerns in AI outputs within the agreed framework.
5. Content review support
- Review patient-facing health content for clinical accuracy as needed.
- Ensure content aligns with current clinical guidelines and approved protocols.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- MBBS or an equivalent recognised clinical qualification; a postgraduate management qualification is preferred.
- 12+ years of clinical experience, including meaningful responsibility for digital health, telemedicine, virtual care, or technology-enabled clinical operations.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing clinical quality/accuracy of other clinicians' work (audits, peer review, or clinical governance).
- Demonstrated experience developing clinical protocols or SOPs.
- Experience in or exposure to clinical recruitment/vetting — comfortable assessing another clinician's competency.
- Strong understanding of teleconsultation workflows, clinical documentation, referrals, escalation, and continuity of care.
- Comfortable working closely with non-clinical founders/operators and translating clinical judgment into practical process.
Nice to Have
- Prior exposure to AI-assisted triage or clinical decision-support tools, and their validation.
- Experience reviewing patient-facing health content.
- Background in maternal and child health.
- Startup or fast-scaling digital health experience.
