About Origin Medical Research Lab
Origin Medical Research Lab is the research arm of Origin Medical. Here, we strive to bring together the best and brightest minds at the intersection of AI and healthcare to fulfill Origin Medical’s mission.
By combining the knowledge of healthcare and AI, it is on a journey to build state-of-the-art solutions aimed at supporting a broad spectrum of healthcare providers in rural and urban communities, allowing them to practice at the top of their licenses. With AI in the imaging workflow, clinicians can more confidently deliver timely interventions, enhance pregnancy outcomes, identify high-risk pregnancies to reduce maternal mortality, and significantly lower infant mortality rates.
Origin Medical, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, is driven by a mission to advance maternal health equity by improving access to quality prenatal care with artificial intelligence.
About the Clinical Data Engineering Team and the Role
Data is the most fundamental component to build an AI solution. The scale of data is highly correlated based on the requirements of the AI solution being built. At Origin Medical Research Lab, we come across millions of fetal ultrasound images/data, which undergo a number of data engineering activities such as preparing the dataset strategy, performing data sorting, labeling, and data-centric analysis of model performance. In order to process such large data, custom data-engineering pipelines are designed to support processes of data collection, management, and governance. We then make data accessible to the clinical and research teams to build AI solutions.
As a Clinical Analyst at Origin Medical Research Lab, you will work closely with clinicians, internal teams (Clinical Quality Assurance, Clinical Research, Product, AI Research, Software, Strategy, Regulatory Affairs), and medical annotators. You will work on the lifeline of our product and technology, i.e., “data,” to build the world’s most advanced AI-enabled assistant for fetal imaging.
What will you do?
- Data Strategy: Use your knowledge in medical image interpretation (don’t worry, we’ll train you with the best experts!) to make decisions pertaining to data engineering in building AI algorithms.
- Data Engineering and Intelligence: Be part of the data engineering pipeline, such as data curation, pre-processing, sorting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting findings (images, video clips, reports) as per the requirements of technology development.
- Data Operations: Transcribe source data into usable data formats, which are crucial for training, testing & development of various AI models.
- Data Audit and Governance: Be part of data collection from clinical collaboration centers and perform data audit to ensure its accuracy as per requirements; constitute critical data engineering-related findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Who are we looking for?
- Ultrasound application specialists, radiographers, echo technicians, and biomedical/medical electronics engineers with similar fields of expertise, possessing 2 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Passionate about developing the next generation of technological solutions in healthcare to impact the lives of millions of expecting mothers and their families around the world.
- Ability to quickly grasp medical imaging, clinical, and engineering concepts that are key to product development.
- Independent, creative self-starter, flexible, comfortable with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment that encourages critical thinking and creative problem-solving.
- Comfortable and open to working on data engineering tasks at scale.
- Should be able to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Works effectively with internal and external team members while managing daily tasks independently.
- Exhibits a quick learning curve and an eager-to-learn attitude, operating as a strong team player who readily embraces new methodologies and innovative setups over conventional practices.
