We are seeking an experienced ClickHouse Database Expert to design, implement, optimize, and manage high-performance ClickHouse database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ClickHouse architecture, database optimization, large-scale data processing, and real-time analytics. You will work closely with data engineering, analytics, and application development teams to build scalable, reliable, and efficient analytical database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain ClickHouse database clusters.
- Develop efficient database schemas optimized for analytical workloads.
- Configure and manage MergeTree engine families, partitions, indexes, and materialized views.
- Optimize SQL queries for high-performance analytics on large datasets.
- Monitor database performance and resolve bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, storage, and query execution.
- Implement replication, sharding, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines from Kafka, MySQL, PostgreSQL, APIs, cloud storage, and other data sources.
- Perform database capacity planning, storage optimization, and compression tuning.
- Configure security, user access, authentication, and role-based permissions.
- Implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure data availability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, DevOps, and BI teams to support reporting and analytics requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.
- Stay current with ClickHouse releases and recommend improvements to database architecture and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of database administration or database engineering experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with ClickHouse in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of ClickHouse architecture and MergeTree engine family.
- Advanced SQL programming and query optimization skills.
- Experience designing databases for large-scale analytical (OLAP) workloads.
- Strong understanding of partitioning, indexing, replication, and distributed tables.
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with monitoring and performance tuning tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or other streaming technologies.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Airflow, dbt, or similar data orchestration tools.
- Experience integrating ClickHouse with BI tools such as Grafana, Tableau, Superset, or Power BI.
- Knowledge of Python, Java, or Go for automation and data engineering.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
