Job Summary
CJ America Bio is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Sales Manager to join our Taste & Nutrition team. This is a strategic, high-impact role that blends advanced food science expertise with consultative sales.
In this position, you will go beyond traditional ingredient sales—serving as a trusted partner to major food manufacturers and CPG companies by delivering innovative, science-backed solutions to complex formulation challenges. Your success will directly contribute to sustainable revenue growth through the integration of CJ’s specialty bio-ingredients into customer product portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with commercial sales teams to drive revenue through technical selling and customer engagement
- Identify and develop new business opportunities by positioning ingredients as solutions to formulation challenges
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application-based solutions to customers
- Act as a liaison between customers, sales teams, and internal R&D/technical teams
- Build and maintain relationships with R&D, Procurement, and Marketing teams at major CPG and food manufacturing companies
- Lead customer projects from concept through commercialization, including technical validation and regulatory alignment (FDA/USDA)
- Conduct bench-top trials and support plant-scale trials to validate ingredient performance
- Analyze competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities
- Support marketing and strategic planning with insights into customer needs and technical trends
- Develop account strategies that strengthen long-term partnerships and customer satisfaction
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events
- Create technical sales tools and application solutions across food and beverage categories
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation of activities and opportunities
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor Technical Sales Specialist(s)
- Support training and development to elevate team technical capabilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field required
- Master’s degree (MS) in Food Science or MBA preferred
- 7+ years of experience in food ingredients, technical sales, application support, or R&D
- Experience with savory systems and bio-active ingredients preferred
- Experience presenting clinical or technical data to customers
- Familiarity with food manufacturing processes and equipment
- Willingness to travel up to 50% (including overnight travel)
Skills & Expertise
- Strong formulation expertise across applications (e.g., bars, gummies, beverages, powdered mixes) and scale-up to commercial production
- Ability to translate technical data into customer-friendly solutions and presentations
- Strong business acumen and consultative selling skills
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across complex organizations
- Established network within R&D and Procurement teams in CPG and food manufacturing
- Experience leading product development projects and commercialization timelines
- Knowledge of sensory evaluation and testing methods
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and nutritional software (e.g., Genesis)
- Ability to manage lab activities and maintain organized workspaces
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Work Environment & Schedule
- Remote, territory-based role (North America)
- Full-time position
- Travel up to 50% required
