Job Title - Civil Engineering Drafter (New Zealand / Australia Preferred) – Land Development & Infrastructure Projects
Job Description
We are a New Zealand-based civil engineering consultancy working on a range of land development and infrastructure projects. We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Drafter to support our team in producing high-quality design drawings and documentation. This role will involve working closely with our engineers to translate concept and detailed designs into clear, accurate, and consent-ready drawing packages. We have a steady pipeline of work and are looking to build an ongoing working relationship with the right person.
Scope of Work
Typical tasks will include:
- Preparation of civil design drawings for land development projects
- Three waters design drafting (stormwater, wastewater, water supply)
- Roading and access design plans (alignments, long sections, cross sections)
- Earthworks plans and staging drawings
- Site layout and general arrangement drawings
- Updating and revising drawings based on engineer markups
- Assisting with Engineering Acceptance / consent documentation packages
- Producing clear, professional drawing sets suitable for council submission
We are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience in civil engineering drafting (ideally land development)
- Is familiar with New Zealand or Australian standards and practices
- Has experience with:
- AutoCAD / Civil 3D (preferred)
- 12d Model (nice to have)
Understands:
- Three waters infrastructure layouts
- Roading geometry and typical sections
- Earthworks and site grading
- Can work from sketches, markups, or verbal direction
- Has strong attention to detail and presentation quality
- Communicates clearly and meets deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with QLDC or similar council standards
- Experience preparing drawings for resource consent or engineering approval
- Basic understanding of stormwater design principles (attenuation, soakage, etc.)
