Qualification & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in campus or institutional infrastructure development (IITs, NITs, IIMs, central universities, or large private institutions) will be preferred.
- Desirable: M.E. / M.Tech. in Construction Management / Project Management with minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
Role & Responsibilities
The role involves smoothly undertaking civil works of the Institute buildings which may involve estimation, tendering, on-site joint measurements, quality checks, process approvals, drawings, safety and others.
- Planning and designing civil maintenance, construction and erection works.
- Undertaking tender documentation.
- Creating maintenance procedures and proper work & operation flows for maintenance works, preparing preventive maintenance check lists of critical works, implementing planned work within the allocated budget.
- Monitoring and demonstrating achievement of agreed service levels and leading on improvement, using performance management techniques.
- Responding appropriately to emergencies / urgencies, as they arise.
- Promoting energy efficiency and other sustainability initiatives.
- Ensuring that all building services meet health and safety requirements and environmental legislations.
- Coordinating with purchase for approvals, bills checking with joint measurements and forwarding for payment.
- Supervising maintenance works and leading the maintenance team.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Should be technically sound and have experience in handling civil, maintenance & allied works that includes experience of tendering, measurement, billing, documentation, quality checks, etc.
- Should have knowledge of preparation of annual maintenance contracts for facilities, if required.
- Should be proficient in AutoCad and MS-Office.
- Should be self-motivated & result-oriented to produce better results in a short span of time; should be able to work well under pressure and meet set timelines.
- Should have excellent analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical questions.
- Should have the ability to lead and guide a team of supervisors and technicians in providing technical solutions for daily service calls and timely completion of works; should exhibit strong team-working skills.
- Should be punctual, methodical and organized.
- Should have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Should exhibit a high degree of ownership, commitment and flexibility; should be able to put in extra hours as per work demands.
