Job Description: Civil Engineer – QA/QC & Execution

1. Position Overview
We are seeking a Civil Engineer (QA/QC & Execution) with strong on-ground experience in Power Plant and Pile. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring construction quality compliance and execution control in line with project specifications, IS codes, and defined ITPs.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. QA/QC (Quality Assurance & Control)
- Implement and monitor Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Field Quality Plans (FQP), and Method Statements.
- Conduct material testing for:
- Cement, aggregates, sand, concrete, reinforcement steel
- Soil testing including FDD (Field Dry Density)
- Concrete Mix Design
- Fresh Concrete Testing (Slump, Temperature, Density, Air Content)
- Hardened Concrete Testing (Compressive Strength, Flexural/Tensile Strength)
- Non-Destructive Testing (Rebound Hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Half-Cell Potential)
- Soil & Foundation Testing (FDT, Standard Proctor, Sieve Analysis, Plate Load Test)
- Material Testing (Water Absorption, Silt Content, Impact Value)
- Maintain records of third-party (NABL) lab testing and compliance reports.
- Perform internal audits, NCR management, and corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure material inspection, joint inspection approvals, and client clearance.
- Maintain and control:
- EI (Engineer Instructions)
- NCR Register
- RFI documentation
- Perform specialized site tests such as:
- Earth Resistivity Test (ERT)
- Concrete cube testing & validation
- Ensure compliance with IS standards, project specifications, and client QA protocols.
B. Execution (Civil Works)
- Handle end-to-end execution of:
- Substation works (TSS, SSP, SP)
- Foundations (transformer, equipment, tower, WTG, solar structures)
- RCC structures, retaining walls, baffle walls
- Cable trenches, control rooms, oil tanks, fencing works
- Execute and supervise:
- Earthwork & soil filling
- Excavation, PCC, RCC works
- Shuttering, reinforcement, grouting
- Conduct:
- Layout marking and level transfer using Auto Level / Total Station
- Measurement and site verification
- Monitor finishing activities:
- Masonry, plastering, flooring, slope pitching
- Ensure execution as per drawings, specifications, and approved designs.
C. Site Coordination & Management
- Coordinate with:
- Client / consultants / subcontractors
- Manage:
- Labour workforce and productivity
- Site safety and quality compliance
- Conduct:
- Site inspections and supervision
- Training / toolbox talks for quality compliance
- Ensure timely completion with quality benchmarks
3. Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems in construction projects
- Understanding of:
- IS Codes – 456, 10262, 383, 9103, 4926, 1786, 2062, 800, 2720 Series, 2911, 2131, 6403, 516, 1199, 13311, 2386, 3370, 13920, 875
- Material testing procedures
4. Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Diploma acceptable with strong site experience)
